I have Windows XP and Internet Explorer's Pop-up Blocker, but occassionally on MX I still get a pop-up advertisement for the iPod Nano thingy. Why doesn't the blocker block this ad, and how can I make it?

Firstly go into Internet Explorer options and check that it isn't allowing any pop-ups from any sites. You may have accidentally clicked to allow pop-ups from that site before.
If not, I have Norton Systemworks and use Mozilla Firefox for my browser and I never get popups. I also don't get them when I use Internet Explorer.
I also have Ad-Aware SE. So it is either Norton or Ad-Aware that is doing the trick for me. You can get Ad-Aware for free and you should beable to find Norton on a Torrent site. Alternatively you could buy Norton, it is a worthwhile investment if you surf the net.
Also keep Norton, Ad-Aware and Windows up-to-date. Check for updates weekly and do regular scans and your computer should remain clean and safe.

Yeah. : /
Threadstarter, get Firefox if you want to be rid of pop-ups.

Yes it would be a good idea to get Firefox but it would also be a good idea to clear yourself of any spyware first. Some spyware still operates without the browser needing to be open. Best to stop the problem rather than just avoiding it.

I should have known that it was a stupid idea to actually ask for HELP at musicianforums. "Get Firefox" is NOT the answer to every browser-related problem. Jesus.

It fixes 98% of the problems. Just find the url of the popup and add it to the blocked list.

Or you could get firefox. Or Opera. Or any other real internet browsing program...
I'd recommend Opera so you don't have to install plugins to do everything.
