I'm building a new PC and have decided to move it to my room. The modem/router is downstairs and my room is upstairs. I need to know if there's any possible way I could use a network card and get as little, or no lag as possible, because I use it to play games. I know you can buy antennas and increase the range but the problem may be that they're on separate floors. I can't drill holes in the floor because my parents wouldn't let me, and plus, I'd need a mile long ethernet cable. Is it possible to buy another router/modem and somehow have that right next to my PC, but with the same internet connection?

Don't drill holes, run the wire through your ventilation system, that's how I have internet in my room. We had wireless before, and absolutely hated it because it was so slow. Once we got a normal router and ran the internet through cable, it was like 5 times faster.

Just get the wirless bit for your PC, the connection will be fine.
