I have it on my 360.
It's what I expected.
I don't LOVE fighting games like some people.
I just wanted something I could play my friends in that was a Sports game or a FPS.

It looks decent, I'm yet to see actual gameplay from it.
rbv, don't make posts like that, because when you do...you suck

nah, hes right tho swim
i mean, yea, if you dont explain yourself, it reflects negatively on your assessment...
but when comparing this game to SCII or III, it does JUST that. The graphics are nothing to brag about. The boobies left MUCH to be desired (seriously).
The game relys too much on countering moves. That being said, the counter and moves systems alike both fail when compared to soul calibur. The only thing the game HAS over it is the online play

I like how you can play as a spartan. That's kick ***. I think that the movies are great and the graphics are awesome.

I can't wait for the next gen Soul Caliber and Tekken games, those games have always been miles ahead of DOA.

Stop comparing this to Soul Calibur. They are two totally different games. Anyway, DOA4 is my favorite fighting game of all time currently. Amazing graphics, gameplay, levels, modes, physics, etc. I don't really see any flaws in it except for the fact that it can be very hard at times, which isn't really a bad thing.

how can you NOT compare this to soul calibur? They are both fighting games that are considered "staples" for each of their respective systems. I think you realize DOA is definitely low man on the totem pole
about this game being too hard, i had no problems whooping up the computer, or even the kid who has it, and plays it all the time.
The physics of people falling down stairs is hilarious, but the game is based on momentum and counters. The counter system is NO where near as intuitive or exact as soul calibur is. The move system isnt even a 1/10th as ground breaking or intense.
The amount of playable characters is similar, but i think the choices in SC cover a wider range of styles

I can't wait for the next gen Soul Caliber and Tekken games, those games have always been miles ahead of DOA.
Reasons why DOA is the most advanced and enjoyable fighting game series.
Multi-tiered arenas. Tekken, Virtua Fighter and Soul Calibur still trap you in tiny enclosures – DOA has arenas roughly 3 to 5 times the size, with a plethora of interactive and smashable elements.
Online. The last two DOA games – DOAU and DOA4 – had a pretty comprehensive online mode and ranking system. Tekken, Virtua Fighter and Soul Calibur, so far, have no online modes whatsoever, and it has already been confirmed that VF5 will be void of any online battles.
Fighting system. In DOA, the fights are so fast and fluid that you can string hits together without having to learn pre-defined button combinations. And as far as I’m concerned, it’s the only game that makes countering moves easy enough for anyone to use them regularly. In those other three games mentioned, counter holds and attacks are considered to be advanced moves, and happen infrequently.

The DOA characters are ok.
I only ones I dislike are the slow, bulky fat-asses; Bayman, Leon and Bass.

did you ever think that Soul Calibur is good enough, that they dont have to waste time with this?

point number 1 for DOA

it seems you have played soul calibur at ALL if you think this
the most you could do in soul calbur is like a 4 hit combo, but the way the move system works, you could make up your own combos and link them
the countering system is far superior because you have to have perfect timing. In DOA, you have like a 2 second window to squeeze counters in. They are so easy, and theres NO way to counter counters.
I soul calibur, you need to have quick reflexes, and you really have to KNOW the move is coming. Even if you are countered, which could be 1 of 4 friggin ways, nothing is guarenteed.
Soul calibur also has the multiple fighting stances, which NO other game can come close to. You could LITERALLY study this game for MONTHS, and still not fully grasp the complexities of it.
DOA has online play, but thats the only thing going for it. Once soul calibur is online, it will have NOTHING

I'll have to play this game. I'll probably just buy it even though I don't have a 360 but I know someone who does.

it seems you have played soul calibur at ALL if you think thisI wasn’t referring to SC specifically. Tekken is most guilty of forcing the player to learn massive combos. Knowing the right button combinations can defeat your opponent whilst they helplessly float in the air, but improvising your own moves usually cuts you short at two or three jabs, giving your opponent a chance to return to their feet.

Soul calibur also has the multiple fighting stances, which NO other game can come close to. You could LITERALLY study this game for MONTHS, and still not fully grasp the complexities of it.That’s my major gripe. I don’t want to study it for months, learning the complexities of the battle system and perfecting my timing on counter blows. Maybe I’m just crap at the game, but I find that counters are too hard to pull off for me to even think about using them in a serious match. I’d lose my whole health bar before successfully countering anything, so it always boils down to simply attacking the hell out of my opponent without much in the way of defence.
In DOA, countering attacks can actually be part of my strategy. It’s easy enough for anyone to learn right away. Why should such a simple mechanic be so difficult to pull off that only ‘hardcore’ gamers who spend months honing their skills can actually use them? In DOA, you learn the simple controls and timing of things right away, and then it’s just a case of practicing them in fights. In Soul Calibur, you can still be struggling with the controls weeks after you’ve bought it, unable to apply some of the advanced skills in the tutorial mode to an actual fight.
It’s like the Street Fighter games. I never liked them much because I could never manage to do those big moves that required you to spin the d-pad and mash out buttons. I’m just not good at remembering button combinations. I was always at a handicap because I couldn’t use certain moves in a fight even if I wanted to. Later a game called Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO came out, and it simplified things by having certain special moves auto-assigned to the second control stick. Suddenly I was good at the game, and my friends were complaining that I was cheating. See, now I was able to use all of the moves that they could, and I was winning. I think your skill at a fighting game should be determined by what moves you choose to use and when, not by how difficult it is to use those moves in the first place. In DOA, I try to out-smart my opponent; use moves that are unpredictable and keep changing my strategy. It would be a hell of a lot tougher to play if it punished me for not remembering long combos, not pushing two buttons at the exact same time, or not using the right type of counter.

so you like the more pick up and go kind of fighter huh?
the controls are pretty easy to pick up as far as SCIII. I mean, i taught my girl in like 15 minutes.
Its the learning curve of the game. In DOA4, i can just use my skills for SCIII (like timing and what not) and just mash buttons to kill people

I just like the simplicity of the DOA games. All you have is punch, kick and guard. To counter, you just press a d-pad direction and guard. People can just jump right in.
With no learning barriers, the online matches become more about outwitting your opponent. A likely scenario - someone playing as Jann Lee runs across the length of the screen, and then they stall within an inch of their opponent before delivering an elbow on the person who was expecting to counter a flying kick a second earlier. You’ll often see people stand at a distance while they think over their next move.
Soul Calibur III is a great game though. I just can’t bring myself to master all those advanced techniques in the tutorials, and without them I feel as if I’m at a disadvantage. I couldn’t even do the one in which you and the bird guy repeatedly guard impact each other. I’m sure I’d like the game more if I was good at it.

Thats why I completed it in 30 minutes and took it back to the shop the same day. I got bored of it.
SKII I am still trying to master and get better at after, well almost 12 months.
