Is there a way to do this yourself and it to be done well and professionally?
Will it add or lower the price of your drumkit when you come to sell it?
And mainly, how do you do it?
Please post links and pictures if you need or want to
Cheers, Ollie
yes you can do it yourself. its quite simple really. there are many ways to do it. For one...some bass heads come with a circle cut out and you stick it where you want it then cut the inside of it. ANother way is to heat a can and do it that way and sorta melt it out i guess. ive never done it though. You can buy a head with it already done. IT wont lower the value of the kit because kick heads are replaceable.

Like he said.
Those circles come with almost every bass drum resonant head.

dont know man ive never tried it. I dont like ported holes. Ive had one but it was pre cut already. I though of just getting a cricle cutter like people use for pictures and just putting it on the bass and the razor just slides around and cuts it perfect but still ive never tried it.

Maybe if i replaced it with a tama reso head and pretend im a n00b to drumming and say its a tama but I dont know what model :D That would be awesome.
And the price wouldnt go up or down? I thought it might go up because its a bit different and mor professional then a skin without a port.
I might try google and see what it says but ill most definitely do it.

^^^lol...you are a n00b..:thumb:
It's cool...we all were once.
Drums don't appreciate in value because of heads.. no one gives a rat's *** about the head condition because they are replaceable.
Just like selling a car... the tire condition doesn't make it cost more or less.

The heads wont drastically change the value of the kit, but people would rather have all new heads than old beat up ones.

no... that's not the case at all honestly.
people shouldn't care about the condition of the heads. I never use the stock heads and most drummers I know don't use stock heads either.
Actually, the best kind of drums I like to buy are just the shells w/o the heads.

True, but the appearance makes a big difference to a beginner drummer. half the people I know don't know heads are changable

It will if you do it on the wrong place..
the hole can't be much bigger than 4/5 inches, and about 5 inches from the side.. in that way it wound effect the sound, and you should be able to slide a mic right in.. only thing is that you'll have less bounce on your batter-head.

heat up a can and then put it on. Best to have a practice on a old skin. Also if you can put tape around it to make sure it doesnt split

geez..the head is not gonna change the value. maybe if u add a chrome ring it will but thats the ring. selling to a newb might make them think its worth more, but the value doesnt change.
IT DOES NOT CHANGE WITH WHAT U DO TO THE HEAD

OK, thanks arsehole you really helped.
It looks alot better, plus im always putting different things inside to see what it sounds like and its annoying when you have to take the whole reso or batter off.
