If your neighbours complain, they will probably do it again and again, especially if they are older people.
Just check how the law about that is.
In Germany you are allowed to play drums (or other loud instruments like horns) 1 hour per day, if you are legally allowed to make noise your neighbours can kiss your butt.
LittlePound

Tell your neighbors that it annoys you to see their stupid ugly faces every day and report them for "indecent exposure". That should shut tehm up
and then play your drums again just to make em mad
My neighbors dont complain. they enjoy the alternative music. they might get annoyed by the hard rock and heavy stuff but they have never complained. I just keep it within reasonable hours.

If you have multiple personality disorder, do you get an hour per personality?

My neighbour got the council round on me after a huge rant. Where she was tryign to break down a door, swearing, making more noice than me...lets just say she might end up owing me a sum of money(claimed i felt physically threatend) caught the whole thing on recording. And we were being realy polite so she had no excuse.

In the U.K I think the official times you're allowed to make any kind of noise such as playing music in a built up area etc is 7am-11pm.

My neighbors have never complained. Then again, I tried as much as I could to limit the sound getting to them, and I try not to play a lot if I know they're home.
What I suggest for people complaining about drumming - take a loud crash cymbal to their lawn by their bedroom window while they are asleep. Hit repeatedly until they wake up, and then run.

No, no. I was going to add on after "run" that he should not run home, rather just 'away' then home when he loses them, if possible, but then I didn't.

I can play from any time up til 10pm.
The neighbours have only ever complained once, and that was when we had the whole band playing, amps turned up, with the window open.
We were kinda asking for that one, in retrospect.

I think that BB's idea was to call the cops and have the neighbors arrested for trespassing. Here in Texas, you could probably shoot them.

I can only drum when my dad isn't home. Because he's a turbo nazi (seriously, his employees call him Hitler) and he doesn't support me musically whatsoever, you know, music doesn't make you rich, so therefore it is useless, damn nazi. Therefore, I'm lucky if I even get to play my kit somedays, as I have various other activities I must do, so some nights I don't get to practice on my kit. That's why I have the practice pad though, so it's all good.

Looks like I should be counting myself lucky that I've never had a complaint, even when jamming with mates, with the window open, and our road is full of old people/a-holes. I usually try to stop at around 6 or so, because I think that if I was a non drumming neighbour, I'd get a bit annoyed with it going on until the evening.

I get about 12:00 to 18:00, sometime people are watching TV so I just put on drum mutes which I usually put on anyway to practice rudiments and all. My neighbours have complained alot about our dog barking but they have not seemed to care about the drums not that they can do much anyway and they've even stopped complaining about the dog.

Haha, you probably could. After a long ordeal involving a drug dealer living at his house and almost getting arrested, a buddy of mine told a cop that if a crackhead or someone came to his door he's going to shoot first, and the cop said, "Well, that's your right."

i have a practice pad and play on it a lot more often than my drumset(practicing rudiments, transitions from triplets to regular notes and whatnot)...in fact i used to take it to school with me and practice on days where de didn't do much in class but still....there's only so much time i spend on a practice before i stop being productive so i bought i guitar, i figured it wouldn't hurt me as a drummer and could only help...

The best recipe so that neighbours love you:
*mute your drums(muffles)
*everytime after your practice, de-mute your drums and play live, mainly "ear catching" stuff for 20-30mins, (funky grooves...and etc but u are not gonna play a repative blastbeat or crash rolling)
*thus everyone's happy
(basically never play blastbeats 'cause it's trash!)
