hey.
i just brought a samic 4 string off a mate for $50nzd,very very cheep.no its not stolen!i broght it because i have a ibanez 5 string and wanted a 4 string just 2 jam around on practice some slaping and poping, and come on< 50 bucks!!!
so anyways i noticed that some dip **** carved the lyrics to some pink floyd song (somethin about an axe)in between the frets on the fret bord all the way from num1 to num 12 up by the E!!! its not too deep maby like 1 or 2 mil,but u can notice it and they did a really crappy job at it.is ther anyway i could remove it without screwing the fret bord totaly?
i dont really care to much as it is a heap of crap hence the cheep price but if its not too big of a job i may as well giv it a go aye
cheers

I suppose you could remove the strings and sand it, if its not too deep. If it's deep though, the frets won't have anywhere to stay anchored in. You'd also have to get used to really tall frets...I don't really suggest it

i was thinking about sanding it,but then i would hav screwd the finish, would hav 2 varnish it again, and if i went too deep it would be rooted.right?also would it take off the dots?(1,3,5)

First off, please, PLEASE type properly. It makes things a lot easier to understand. Also, I think the only thing you can really do is to sand it down, and yes, you'd have to refinish the neck. Plus, your frets would seem very high, as maco said. Great opportunity to do a defretting job though, if you want a fretless. But other than that, I don't think there's much that can be done.

if you don't want to lower the fretboard, maybe just fill all those things in with some wood putty or something, then sand a little and re-varnish? Secondly, you could redesign the carvings, use a router and carve something cool into the fretboard... OHHH!!! IDEA!!! Simply put some kickin inlays into the space that the carvings took up. Ya, that would be tight.

Um... my dad's a woodworker and he reads the "Fine Woodworking" Magazine. I'm sure there's some wonderful instructions in there. Besides that, I'm sure librarys have them? Sorry, i'm not much use.
