Worrpigs

the title says it all.
Name any bass player, living or deceased, that you'd like to jam with. Name multiple people if you'd like, but try to keep it to bass players. also name why you want to jam with them.
please, if somebody says a player you dont like, dont flame them for it. and if theyre deceased, DO NOT TALK ILL OF THE DEAD.
as for me, id like to jam with Victor Wooten, and Faith No More's bassist, Wooten because hes awesome and I might pick up some techniques, and FNM's bassist cause he sits in the pocket real well and I just really like FNM

Claypool. I can play most of his stuff, but I'm sure he'd still have quite a few things to show me, not to mention he's funny.

I'd like to jam with Flea just because the man grooves really well, and I think he puts a lot of soul into his [fingerstyle] playing.
I'd also like to jam with Michael Manring. And by jam with, I mean watch. And by watch, I mean play his Hyperbass.

I'd jam with Les because he seems like a really cool guy, down to earth.
Flea for the same reason really.
JPJ because if any of his bass playing rubbed off on me I'd be thrilled.
Cliff because he was just a shreddin' *** bass player
Ryan Martinie because I like metal and mudvayne has good style, so maybe I could pick some of his stuff up
Theres so many more, but the reasons are all kinda the same, so I'll end it there.
Edit: after reading murdok's post, I have to add Jaco, just because the experince would be amazing. Jaco was bass god.

With Jaco :). Me playing a solid rhythm playing, with him improvising and going up and down the fretboard.
Wooten. It'd be awesome to do a gig with him, just soloing and stuff. I'd love to meet him, have a jam to see his awesome chops, and to play his Fodera's :p

Adam Neely. That cat fully understands what it takes to be a musician and not just a good, but a GREAT bassist. Plus, he could pound away on his Fender Rhodes while I lay down a funky beat for him on his GT-7.

I agree with you on this, too bad he sold the Rhodes though. It would still be awesome watching him do his two hand tapping things.

Worrpigs - I'm a massive FNM/Patton fan as well. I would enjoy a jam with Billy Gould, but I get the impression he'd leave me behind and do his own thing.
I would love to jam with Justin Chancellor of Tool. That man has a brilliant musical mind. I guess they all do...

please, call me ben. FNM is a great band, and i think their bass player doesnt get enough credit. hes simple, but holds the band together so well.

The scary thing about Adam is he is only 17, fast forward five years after perhaps doing a degree at Berklee or even not doing a degree, his name will probably be making the rounds in the bass world.

The only reason it hasn't thus far is because of his location. Get that kid to Seattle or another city with a booming music industry and he's as good as gold.
$20 says he gets to jam with Vic or Hamm AT LEAST once in his life.

Well he will probably move elsewhere at some point, if he goes to Berklee that will be a good change of scene and his name would spread like wildfire amongst the musicians there.
I am not betting against you on that one... He will play with the greats one day if he carries on his journey and keeps improving at the rate he is.

It's Havic.
If you haven't heard his stuff I will be surprised, I guess you just never knew his actual name. But here is his soundclick anyway:

It's funny how you're all talking about him as though he's a big name right now. He is great, no doubt about that, I just find it kind of funny.

Er... I am not talking about him as if he is a big name, I was just using his real name.
If the guy continues on the way he is, he is gonna turn out one hell of a player and could well be playing with the greats or future greats at some point.

*cries uncontrollably* I DONT HAVE THE RHODES ANYMORE.
Sigh. It had to be sacrificed. But mark my words, I will get a rhodes again sometime in my life. Banging the **** out of that thing in a rock show setting is just about the most exhilerating experience I've ever had.
Thanks for the kind words everybody! :D In other circumstances they might go to my head, but I just got rejected from the Manhattan School of Music, which really bummed me out/humbled me etc. Oh well.

I am extremely surprised you were rejected Adam, you seem to have a fairly advanced grasp of theory, very advanced technique, good arranging skills, and they don't even consider you for an audition? I am baffled.

Ben, you seem to be the only one out there who feels the same. Nobody knows who he is... King For a Day is brilliant, but you can say that about most stuff he does. From Out of Nowhere made me initially perk my ears up, and they never came down I guess... Roddy Bottum did a fair share of holding the band together too, though he has gotten his fair share of credit.

Faith No More are awesome, Billy Gould is cool such simple bass but so awesome sounding. I'd want to jam with Entwhistle as he is just such an iconic figure and probably my favourite bassist. Shame he's dead :(

Hey, i'd definatly have to go for Roger Waters from the Pink Floyd, although not the fasted or tech bass player his style has hugely influenced my own playing/style. His slow bass gives a nice effective punch that I love. Any of you guys into his style?

I aggre 100% on that effective playing to beutiful guitaring. A bit like some of the John Paul Jones bass riffs to Page.
And the dude with the Kubicki I worship that, that is one of the most beutiful basses ever, how much it set you back?

hmm... i don't know if anyone's said this (shame on you if noone has) but i'de definatly love to jam with cliff burton, i mean who wouldn't? hes probebly the most influential(spelling?) bassist that ever lived. and in my opinion, the best. i'de also love to jam with geddy (that i think his name is) from rush. i can play almost any song you find, give me an hour or two, and i'll get it, but i can't touch geddy's stuff, i don't know what it is, he's just awsome. (3 more) deff. flea, i personaly think his stuff's easy, but i still adore him (bassist to bassist), also, hes just a crazy cracker. kelly lemeix (man, i feel like i'm spelling everyone's name wrong) the bassist from goldfinger (still in band?) hes just been my idol ever since i started playing bass, plus i'de love to just touch his 12ver. last but not least, mr. wong (his first name escapes me right now) the bassist from reel big fish, i just love ska, and most of his stuff i can't play at all. also... HE'S ASAIN WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?! thats all really
ha, i'm editing this, i can't beleive i forgot, jon paul need i say more?

eh, i don't particulaly like jason, i think cliffs better, and better with the crowd... but i did like when in the "load" tour, on the vid, he played drums for part of the song... i was on the ground laughing... but otherwise, i'm not too fond of him, i guess thats not fair because i'm compareing him to cliff... but cliff was the essence of metallica, and it's impossible for any bassist to fill his shoes

Newstead>Burton IMO I think Jason was better with the crowd but Cliff was a more manic performer so more fun to watch.
