Here are pics of my bass, taken a while ago. It looks no different.

A dodgy photo, poor clarity but I was drunk.

This is what the second one is meant to look like...
Yeah, birdseye maple neck and fingerboard, highly figured swamp ash body. Circa 94 model, with the Flea-type (offset) bridge and saddles.

Argh, that sucks. Bloody LTD's... This bad-boy has a finish chip around the waistline, and some dents in the edges of the headstock. Must be all those cymbal crashes...
Thanks for all the positive comments by the way.

Hiscox flight case. Made in Britain. You can sit on the flat side of it and it won't even move. That is, if you weigh 85kg. I weigh 105kg, so I don't really want to try it... but I feel Ray is safe in his Hiscox. :)

Primus - beautiful mate, absolutely beautiful. Looking at the new Stingray photos I suspected they had some massive contouring; it seems to work well. And Down'd Angel, yeah the grain is what does it. It's actually bookmatched, not a one-piece body. Hard to pick!
The SR5s have a fair bit of contouring, which looks sick.

are those pickups on the bridge?

No, they are string mutes. Little pads with adjusting knobs. Give it a double-bass kind of sound, i.e. dead. :D

Yeah. They're very cool.
I use my MM cleaning cloth as a dampen the strings. sounds great.

I have a dilemma with a stingray. I can sell my current five and get a stingray five for £750, which is a sweet deal, but that means Ill end up playing a detuned musicman five in my band, which is just disrepectful.Or I can just buy the stingray for £750 and be skint for a while. I dont particularly want to sell my current one, which is a peavey grind as I dont mind bashing it about as much as I would a Stingray. Advice anyone?
Get the Ray. Theres nothing wrong with a detuned Music man

but how is that pickguard so different....if its the same series
It just is. It doesn't have to be the same.
The oval pickguard look sh*thouse on the Ray 5s. Take a look at a Sub 5.

Ahhh, he's come around folks, he's come around... :)
I plan to make a few pickguards for Ray. Taking it off, the wood looks fantastic underneath, so clear would work well. Tortoise-shell would look fantastic too, as would tinted red/black.

Both are very appealing basses, but I like primus_55's more just because it has five strings. :)
I'm not much of a fan of Stingrays, though, but the fives are really appealing to me.

More like you need about $2700. Natural finishes are a $250ish upcharge. And if you have no pickguard, the control cavities will be bare. So, you've got to have a guard on as SR5's cavities are front routed.
