hey i need help with what a symbol is on a circuit diagram.

it looks like a capacitor but insted of it looking like

it looks like

|(

does anyone know what this symbol is, is it another type of capacitor?

I think its a cap.

Another symbol for an electrolytic (polarised) capacitor.
( is the negative end. So it's +|(-. Usually they just go +|| for an electrolytic cap, but some people like to be different.

Generally, they don't come in knob-compatible pots, unfortunately. These days they might - I was going to hook one up to the tone control of my RG, but decided not to. I was paranoid about losing my valuable paper cap tone. But yeah, you basically set them with a screwdriver, if I remember correctly. Other than that, you could get a serious wah effect if you were hardcore enough... :smoke:
