I just joined up with the schools drumline. I shall be playing bass (but I really want to play quads). What are your guys' suggestions and such for writing stuff with them and any interesting stories?

Stick to the low end. I'd rather play bass than quads anyday. They are superhard and they kill your back.

Bass as in guitar?
My position, as always, is that bass belongs in the pit.

Yea, bass guitar.
I know I will only be playing bass at comps and stuff like that, and we are writting stuff, so what is done most often in situations like that.

from my experience bass stays in the pit... at least thats what i've done the past two years.

dont think of it as a drumline show, think of it as music and play what fits.

why is there a bass guitar in a drumline??? anyway, id choose strings over quads anyday, quads pull on the top and push on the bottom, horrid if your female, most like worse as a guy...and you get nasty sweatstain on you back

yeah in my schools drumline the quad player was a fairly small and skinny girl. one day the pit an drumline were practicing together and we all switched around instruments. at first i was on the biggest bass drum which is normally played by this kid who's around 6 foot and really bulky. then i went onto the quads, those were so much heavier compared to the bass drum
