Yes, string nuts. I am interested in stringing my 5 string bass to EADGC. I plan to do it on my Ibanez SR305DX. Will I need to get a new nut fitted or will it be fine with the current one? Also, if anyone has this setup how do they find playing slap on the bass?

I strung my Washburn 5er to EADGC without changing the nut, it hasn't caused me any problems. I actually find slap easier than with the B, which i never really used anyway. The C sounds awesome popped. You can also make some mad wicked chords with the extra high string, and tapping is a joy.

Did you have to do some tuning on the truss rod and intonation?

EADGC tuning is great. i prefer it much to BEADG. i dont' think i messed with anything as far as truss rod and intonation. but just put the strings on and see if the action is where you want it and after that then check intonation to see if it's needs adjusting. just putting those strings on there isn't going to hurt anything. are you familar with setting up your bass?
You won't need a nut change.
The high C strings is fun. Ill get around to whacking a C on my SR5 when i get over the B string.

I had my bass EADGC for a while without chaging the nut/adjusting the truss rod and it was fine.
Tuned it ADADG now

Vic Wooten (the man of the moment) has a tenor bass, which is a 4-stringer tuned to ADGC.

I like the low B much more than high C so I don't really see the use.. I like lower notes more than higher..
I want a sub-contra Jazz Bass..
