What's a good 5 string bass? It would be cool if it was similar to my yamaha rbx 170 cuz i'm accustomed to it,but I play some fivers at stores sometimes and I've been wanting to get one for a while. I want a small neck cuz well i'm 5'3-5'4 around there, so I don't have HUGE hands.I've been playing for a little bit over a year now.well yeah, any suggestions for me? thanx for any help

i'd say go for the rbx 375...or possibly 775 if you could get ahold of one, but might be difficult since they were discontinued here in the US...

but the 375 is a really sturdy bass...i own the 374 (4 string version) and i love that beast to death...Machines on here owns the 775 and swears by it...

Schecter Studio 5, the neck is thin for a 5 string IMO. And it's a great bass.

How good is this bass for Hard Rock/Metal music?

If you mean the RBX775, then pretty much aimed at that style.

RBX775 or the Siletto 5. Go and try them both out.

I have the RBX375 and its a really good 5 string. It suits whatever i play in bands (rock/funk/blues ect)

I've got a Peavey Millenium BXP 5, and i know your pain of having small hands.. mine are the same if not smaller than most girls i know... But this bass has an amazing neck, it's probably my favorite part. slim fast... wide enough for slap n' pop but close enough for my small hands... and, i've been in hard rock/ metal bands before and this bass holds it down well. It's got a good tone for the price :thumb:

I would want one with a deep, nice sound. I don't like the trebly sounds like the punk basses have, even though i do play that :-p.

any bass?
stingray
if you can afford it.. they got a low deep tone
"reggae stylin" like eric wilson used:thumb:

edit - all though the newish ones have thicker necks, like a p-bass maybe but wider cause its a 5

Ibanez SR305DX

this man knows what he is talking about. i own this bass and swear by it, it has a slim fast neck, the string spacing is 16.5mm while the string spacing on most 5ers is more toward 18mm. it makes the neck much thinner, but it is still really easy to slap on. powerful 2 band onboard preamp (EQ), and looks really nice. just look at this thing

if you have anymore questions about this bass just ask, it is so solid

My Cirrus is the best five string I've ever played, so it gets my first recomendation. Second, I'd say a Stingray. Third, probably a Schector Studio 5.

I currently own the SR905 and I love it. Has lots of high-end features even though it is made in Korea making it low-end. Not the best for detuning but you got the B-string so no need :)

Next 5-string I'll probably get is a pre-Gibson Tobias... ;)

Ha yeah I also have that exact bass, I love it. Although I think I have a different EQ, my knobs are in a different config.
