OK, what exactly is the greatest martial arts fight thats taken place in cinema? My personal favourite is the duel on the logs in Iron Monkey, but I want to hear from the rest of ye. Which exchange of blows and badly dubbed dialogue made YOU want to go out and buy a samurai sword? Post here!

The showdown on the wintery plains in "House of Flying Daggers", that was so emotional.

I wouldn't really call them fights as much as Tony Jaa owning the **** out of people. He might let them get a few shots in for drama, but you know what's coming. ;)

Everyone seems to be forgetting the Crazy 88's scene in Kill Bill. Amazing homage to all the old school japanese martial arts and kung fu movies Tarantino used to idolise when he was younger, supposedly there is little in the way of original content in that movie.

Bruce Lee in 'Enter The Dragon', he had to delibrately slow down because noone could keep up with him behind the scenes.

Chuck Norris and David Carradine in Lone Wolf McQuade.

Anything with Steven Seagal in it.

Kill Bill is garbage.

Bruce Lee movies don't count because if they did, everyone should just be posting about Bruce Lee fights.

Well not necessarily, they weren't all that great. Enter The Dragon has some cool scenes in it though thats why i mentioned it.

Kill Bill is garbage.

I can see why a lot of people dislike this film, its very offbeat but it appeals to my personal tastes so i love it. The people i've met that do say its rubbish though tend to say there are aspects of it that are great, but they are turned off by the delibrate cheesiness factor. It's a Tarantino homage, thats the idea.

It wasn't really the deliberate cheesiness for me. It was more that it was deliberately cheesy without being funny and that the movie didn't have much to offer apart from the fight scenes which are few and far between.

Having people say it's one of the best films of all time doesn't help either. (The 2nd one was alot better than the first one, but I didn't enjoy the first one at all)

Kill Bill was spectacular from beginning to end!

Now, I'm not much of a martial arts guy, but in "Equilibrium" there's some pretty cool Martial Arts type fight scenes...

I think just about any film with a cult following tends to be overrated.

Personal tastes are the big factor that determines whether a film blows your mind or not, for example i'm not a big Star Wars fan at all and for some people it is their life. I can watch the film and enjoy it, but that little bit of extra inspiration isn't there for me cause sci-fi isn't generally my thing.

those giant guys were stupid, there is no way they could pick up a half ton of baby elepphant and throw it 20 feet and out a window. anyway they desreved what happened to them, that scene made me want to kill them!

iIhope he releases a lot more films, you notice most the actors in ongbak reappear in tom yum goong?

Especially when him and the big guy are running at each other, and Jaa just levels the guy with a knee to the forehead. That was badass. And when he kicks the light out on top of the lamp post, and kicks the guy out of the helicopter at the end. He has amazing reach.

Yeah man. Tom Yum Goong was great because you really dont even need subtitles to watch it, as quite a fair amount of it is in english anyways.

Tony Jaa's fights are too one sided. They're awsome, but when I think greatest fight, I think of a fight between 2 people.

Jackie's fight against the american boxer in Gorgeous is one of the most impressive displays of martial arts ever. There are no gimmicks, it's just two guys in a warehouse fighting.

Not necessarily. Many of his fights have him getting beaten just as much as he does the beating.

Yeah, Jean Claude Van Dam style. He does some really impressive stuff, but his opponents are usually just punching bags.

Aside from the breakdance fighter, his opponents are very forgetable.

It's not the greatest by a long shot, but in LOTR, when Boromir gets shot with like, 6 arrows and still goes on fighting was pretty badass.

DO IT! Ive been learning capoeira for about 4 months and its great, and to think i almost didnt sign up! Since then i cant stop talking about it!
Its best to do some research on schools in your area as there are usualy more than one, you should take time to visit them and watch, they wont mind. You wont believe how fast some of the advanded capoeiristas are.
