hi,

i'm looking into buying a new kit. I've had the kit i have currently (a tama stagestar) for quite a while now and was looking into upgrading to a better kit (the PDP CX series).

can someone please tell me if this is a good choice, thanks.

I own a CX and its a very good kit for the price.

I own an LX, which is the same drum with a different finish. I recommend it. Many credit the Pacifics as semi-professional kits. My summer teacher owns a DW kit, and uses a PDP kit to gig with. The people at my shop have huge respect for Pacific. So there are some 'reviews' for ya.

I would suggest looking into similar items such as Mapex Pro M, Sonor Force 3005, Gretsch Catalina... Those all deal very similarly in quality, but have minute differences. If you want to get really picky, you can check out your dealer and inquire about all these minute differences. But either choice should make you very happy, it is a great step up from an entry level kit.

well i'm no professional when it comes to pacific drums...but i have recently bought a PDP FS and i'm loving it...you're best off speaking to a PDP or DW dw dealer like Senseless Apprentice said...awesome kit to gig with or just for a jam ... :thumb:

CX's are up there with the 3005's, the stage customs, the Pro M's, the catalinas, etc. They really are great kits.

they sound good but they have their flaws. if i was to get a second kit i wouldnt settle for anything lower than an s class pro or something like that. to me its not worth the upgrade. Its hard to tune, they edges are nice and sharp, i like the different shell sizes. but go with sonor. the mounting really killed it for me. the snare was dissapointing. the hardware is a sack of **** except for one stand. but i got a really nifce sound with a set of emperors. uh i don't know it didnt work for me, i have pretty high standards for things thoguh so if you dont pay attention to htings much then get this.
