well the first step is admitting that you have a problem. Just joking, they are an alright band but they have lost there way in recent years IMO

My dad sold Eddie a telecaster on eBay. Since we live near him, my dad met him in person and now we get free tix.

I love Binaural, but their best time was the mid-late 90's in my opinion. Vitalogy, Yield and No Code are classics.

Don't talk ****...
VS is my favorite album of theirs, Rats is such a great song. I like Binnarul but I never got into No Code. Vitalogy is good but pretty inconsistent, I mean what is with that track 'bugs'.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, I like some pearl jam, I dislike some pearl jam, I'd like to see pearl jam live.

Having seen them live 3 times (all pre 1997) I can tell you they are a great live band, no doubt. But with the recent decision to move into a folksy, let's-all-hate-the-government-like-a-bunch-of-f**king-60's-hippies, jam band style, I just can't stand them anymore. Nothing more annoying then when a band who has built tremendous success and wealth off the backs of Americans who support them financially then decides to bash that same capitalistic system they so benefitted from.
Not to mention their music just isn't very interesting anymore.

I only have their greatest hits, but the are by far my favorite grunge band. I love Vedders voice, and even more so his lyrics.

The first 3 albums are really good in different ways and Yield has some really good tracks but some duds too. I respect their attitude of leaving behind the stadium style stuff and always just playing whatever they want and in a strange way they're actually quite experimental.

Pearl Jam is amazing. I've got VS, Yield, Ten and Vitology. Although I feel Vitology was the weakest link, it still was unbelievable. Pinning them with the "grunge" label, I feel, is naive, because they're so much more. Yes, Ten was a straightforward grunge act, but they're so much more.

my favourite living band, no question. everything they've ever done has been amazing. i dont know why people bash their later stuff for being different. i think they would have become boring if they had remained a grunge band throughout their career. this way u never quite know what ur gonna get with every new PJ album. and its stupid to bash a band for being political when u know what they're protesting is for a good cause. they dont agree with the war, and they let u know it.
i saw them back in september in winnipeg, easily the best show ive ever seen. a lot of people think they only play to their hardcore fans, but they actually pull out a fair number of their older hits too, which was really good. overall an awesome band.

I am still pleased with the early stuff, nothing really compares to it.... It's like poping in a Zeppelin cd, the tunes never get dull...

Grunge was a stupid label, period. The idiot press lumped the big four (five if you include Mudhoney) of Seattle into one box not out of naivete, but out of the usual uncreative laziness. It was pretty much because before Nevermind hit there was no anger or melancholy in the rock mainstream, and at least the Seattle giants had that in common, but creating a genre based purely on that was lame.

I like them, but I need more stuff by them. Jeremy is such a powerful song.

mark arm of mudhoney was actually the one who penned the word grunge and sadly the media blew it into way out of proportions. before nevermind, grunge already existed.it wasnt until the video of nirvana's smells like teen spirit, things got change as the media used it to generate a new trend letting everybody think that everything that 80's produced was lipstick and spandix music... and thus grunge hit comercially. it was a phenomenon and a disaster at some point. like any other mainstream, grunge originators were fallen victim from imitators. and pearl Jam was probably one of the most imitated band that came out in that era... :)

Nirvana, especially Nevermind, is not even grunge. That pisses me off.

Yeah, Jam Band? They play pre-written music, it's hardly "jam" music.
Anybody here has a live video of state of love in trust by pearl jam?
ive seen it once before, its actually a very good live video... stone and McCready did a remarkable double solo at the same time...
ill try to look for it, and hopefully i could upload it so that everybody could see...

The video for 'Do the Evolution' is awesome. Vs. is an accomplishment in itself. Some huge songs there, as well as Ten. I preferred them when they had Abruzzese behind the kit. His playing a was a little more interesting than Cameron's, even though Matt's is still powerful by it's own right. Long live PJ.
