So in any caes ive been getting really into the smashing pumpkins in the last few months, and ive bought siamese dream and mellon collie and the infinte sadness. Both these albums are amognst some of my faviorte albums of all time. But im not sure wether i should buy more pumpkins cds. I really like the direction they have in both these albums, but i have read that their albums after these have more techno influences and just cant compare. So should i buy more pumpkins albums, and if so which ones, or just stay content with what i have?

Gish is their first album isnt it? because that is the one i have been thinking of picking up seeing as it is before siamese dream and mellon collie.

The electronic influence is pretty minimal and in no way alienating to people who are already fans. Adore is a great album, give it a listen.

Yeah, get Adore, then probably Gish. Machina isn't that great, but you can get Machina II for free on the internet. Hooray for internet!

yeah, I would definately pick up machina 2 off the internet....it's free. Heres my review of Machina 2...I'm biased in favour of the band though.

After downloading this I would reccomend Gish as an album most similar to the ones you have, Adore is softer but still good and Machina is the most techno influenced they have done, probably still wporth checking out if you like all the others though!

well that depends.

Do you plan to make pie?

Or just eat the seeds?

Or perhaps simply make a jack-o-latern?

gish is good if u want a more rock oriented album, tho its a bit more on the psychedelic side. if u really, really like the pumpkins like i do, u'll like their later albums. i think the key is to not categorize the music that the smashing pumpkins made, rather just accept it as music by the smashing pumpkins, no matter what it sounds like.

Ok then. Im deffinatly thinking adore is the way for me to go seeing as ava adore was one of the songs that got me into the pumpkins, and im listening to MCATIS and Siamese dream for hours each day so i deffinatly think i should get their later stuff. So thanks for your help, and now lets all go and listen to the pumpkins and pray for a possible reunion :thumb:
