Hey everyone im new tho this forum and looking for a suggestion on which set i should buy, a mapex pro m or a sonor force 3005. I have read reviwes from a lot of different threads but i couldn't find one that compared the two side by side. Im srry if i just couldn't find it and this already up here or something... As of right now oi have an old rockstar and am looking to upgradew im not really into tamam any more for various reasons and im just looking into going into a different brand with a new set. Thx for the help

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Anyways i would go with the mapex , but if your gonna buy one in a store ( meaning not from the net ) i would spend some time playing and testing them in a store.

Yea i was probably planning on getting my set from the store but the only thing is the only two stores around here are victors house of music and guitar center and victors dosn't let anyone play anything other then the electronic kits which i think is bull**** and the guitar center around here only has like tama or pearl sets set up and every once in a while a dw but i can't afford that so that's out of the question

well, if u live in the US use www.massmusic.net they have amazing prices. those are both amazing kits, and i honestly don't know which one to recommend over the other because they are both amazing. if u go w/ massmusic i'm gonna say sonor because it is a bit cheaper, and if u get it in standard sizes(or any size really) u can get the free extra tom, and use the largest rack tom as a floor tom(if u dig the 2 floor tom thing)

thx yea i think ill go with mass music the setup im gunna buy is the fusin 1 seup which ios 10 12 and 14 then ill get the free 8 inch tom and ill add another bass drum and a 16 inch mounted floor tom. I have been saving up for a long time now and i want a pretty decent set in that setup so im gunna by pedals too any reccomendations i was gunna go with dw 5000's

I moved from Mapex to Sonor. I think Sonor's are really nice. I've played on a master range Mapex Orion, but it's not exactly cheap. Imo, Sonor's just have prog rock sound written all over them. The tom sounds just contrast each other so well, I can see why Carey of Tool uses them.

Carey is a good one of my all time favorites

^i dunno about that, mapex is amazing, but sonor is just as amazing. and sonor delites are ****ing sexy as hell. and an ill word can never be said of 3005. btw, threadstarted, if u are addin' a 2nd bass drum and a 16 floor tom on to the fusion sizes, that kit will be ****ing great and u will HAVE to post pics or i will hunt u down and kill u

i personally like the black sparkle or the white sparkle, but i forget if 3005s come in white sparkle. high autum gloss finish is good, even though like everyone with 3005s has it

Ok i may sound stupid on this but i was looking at mass music and i would need a double tom stand and i wass loking thorugh them do they all fit each set because i know that the designer and delites have a different mounting system im just wondering if the rods would be the same

....Oops nvm i just read into it more the rod would be eaither for the t bar or for the deigner system right?

id say its all preference, you cant really go wrong with either

Both are so close quality wise that either one would be a good choice. If you go Sonor though, try and get something else other than Autumm High Gloss. EVERYONE that has a 3005 kit has that finish so unless it really tickles your fancy, I'd suggest looking at something else. As for me, I have a Pro M and it's amazing. I'd go with the Sonor's. I was trying to decide between the 2 myself a few months ago. My band played at a club that had a house drumset which was a mapex pro m. I wasn't at all impressed with the quality of the pro m. To me it seemed like a beginners set with an expensive price tag and cool finishs. I'm amazed with the quality of the Sonor 3005s, but i'll admit, the finishes are a bit strange. But the drums have some class.

just waiting on my 8" tom that was backordered when I ordered it a week ago.

You can go to the sites (mapex.com/sonor.com or whatever) to see the finishes and get an idea of what you'd like as well. I would go with Mapex, but I am biased towards it. And haven't played on a Sonor.

I have a Sonor 3005 and I love it. Just get whatever finish you like best man. Don't worry about alot of other people having that finish. Alot of people have AHG for a reason, it's a beautiful finish. I have mine in Red Maple, which is a gorgeous finish as well. Mapex Pro M's are going to be equally as good though. They're both great kits.

^Actually, the wood grain on my Pro M shows through magnificently. That picture doesn't really do it justice. I'll see if I can get another one to show it better :thumb:

Sonor in my biased opinion because I own a 3005 in the red maple finish. Great drums, the finish is beautiful too. Heres a picture.
