hello, im a fellow drummer looking for advice, i have been playing and 70's ludwig maple set for year, 8 i think, i believe its time for a new set, well i was just wondering if a virgin bass drum is all of what it is made up to be, or is it so minimal you cant really tell, any help yould be great.

minimal at best.
they are pretty, but i find mounts too useful to not have them.

I've always noticed more resonance and nuance with drums mounted over the kick and attached. You get alot more ring and presence when the tom heads ring in unison with the kick.
If you don't beleive me take your toms away from your kick.. Kick the drum hear how it sounds, now put them back and play the kick and you'll hear a HUGE difference.
whats a virgin bass drum?
no mounts imbedded in the shell?

so, that would be a no then on the virgin, ya virgin is when there are no drillings for tomtom holder

Yep Jim is rite i noticed it while tuning my bass-drum.
