yeah, so i've been playing for about 3-4 years. i currently play in a fusion/jazz/rock jam band--we do little gigs here and there--and have a pearl forum (which i've had since i started).
so i'm looking to upgrade to a kit that's more appropriate for a fusion setting and just sounds better overall. i have good cymbals that i purchased recently.
so i was originally thinking a gretsch catalina club, but a salesman at guitar center proposed a pdp cx/mx (which happens to be more expensive, but its a five-piece). i don't care four v. five piece, i'm fine either way, but i've been playing a five for a few years.
so i would really appreciate advice.
thanks

if u have a budget, id go sonor 3003 on musicians friend, otherwise id go M birch, pro M. the pdp CX/MX are also very good, but u have to play on everything and find what ur own preference. u have the cash, so YOU make the decision, not some schmuck on a commission

try out as much as you can to see what you like for yourself. Theres never really a "right" answer for what drumset to get, just a lot of wrong answers lol
so yea, its all about preference

Sonor makes great sets that aren't overpriced. They are not a very big name, therefore can't put a huge price on their drums like Pearl can. You get more quality for the money you pay.
