Hey guys, new to this forum so i figured i'd post a question.
What are you guys listening to right now?

At the moment i am checking out:
Roadrunner United - The All Star Sessions
-Basically Roadrunner label came up with the idea of doing an all star band. this cd has productions by Matt heafy from Trivium, Joey Jordison from Slipknot, Dino Cazares from Fear Factory and Robert Flynn from Machine Head. to top it off, they truly do have an all star group of musicians collaborating on this, from King Diamond to Max Calvalera! Check it out and the DVD studio sessions are amazing to watch.

In Flames - Colony
Between the Buried and Me - Alaska
Trivium - Ascendancy
-Great CD, wicked metal/melodic feel to it and a great singer/guitarist!!!

And as always I'm rocking out to System of a down and Megadeth, and I CAN"T WAIT FOR HTE NEW TOOL ALBUM!!!

I'm listening to a lot of Wolfmother, INXS, Pink Floyd (as usual), Frank Zappa and Mr Bungle at the moment.

Wolfmother is the only new band in 5 years in which I've gone and brought the CD immidiently after hearing one of their songs for the first time on the radio (the last band was System of a Down).

What was their previous guitarist's name? Jon Levasseur I think. Anyway, yeah he WAS Cryptopsy. They seem to have gone crap without him. I love Worm's vocals (especially in Angelskingarden) except for when he screams, it sounds like he's gurgling.

I've also been giving Turn Loose The Swans by My Dying Bride a lot of spins lately. You know how everyone always says "Opeth are so legendary and awesome because Mikael swaps between growls and clean singing"? Aaron Stainthorpe did it on Swans 2 years before Orchid came out, and he did it better IMO. Legends.

No one said you had to stick to one genre haha! I'm always switching between my hip hop and metal collections and everythign in between!! the names I do know on your list I love so i figured i'd recommend some of my faves from the same.

Groove armada, st.germain, morcheeba, portishead - Like Massive attack.
If you like Talib kweli you have to check out Blackstar and Reflection Eternal, Talib's collaborations with Mos Def and Hi-Tek. they're great! Other hip hop artists you might like are DL Incognito (from ottawa?) he's great probably my fave mc. Jurassic 5, Blackalicious, Atmosphere.

Satch - If i could fly

I love that song! Has to be the second best song on that album! My fave song would have to be Is there love in space? Its a great song, with a lot of emotion being put into it by satch and the sound of his guitar!! Amazing!

Right now i'm listening to A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step
Great album,

Also Alice in Chains - Out of the box

I'm growing more of an appreciation for Emperor's Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk, only the first three and last track though. The way the intro goes into Ye Entrancemperium (which may be the greatest song of all time) is mindblowing.

Also I've been giving Thorns Vs. Emperor a few spins, Ærie Descent is pure evil.

Seriously check Juno Reactor i cant recommend them enough

As far as other DT goes, I'm loving their album train of thought, all the songs on it are great and i suggest you check it out if you havent yet!!

And spectrum, good choices on opeth, radiohead and pink floyd!
Animals has one of my fave pink floyd tracks, - pigs (three different ones) I have some good memories of being stoned in my friends car on a road trip, and falling asleep listening to dave gilmour play his ****!

DIo Eh? Hmm i can't say i've ever listened to that.

if you were to get another DT album, i'd probably tell you to get Six Degrees of inner turbulence, which is 2 cds including one 42 minute long Composition, lyrics written by both petrucci and portnoy. That or Scenes from a memory (i think that's what it's called.)

Ok computer is great too, Im also loving hail to the thief.

For the past couple days, its been in flames and trivium but im mellowing out a bit here and i've been listening to A perfect Circle, emotive and thirteenth step. I'm loving the song Vanishing on Thirteenth step. I didn't like it right at first, but im finding that I really enjoy the offbeat drums and that twisted bass line!

To throw a great inflames song.. Zombie INC on colony has my heart right now!

Also, I can't get enough APC and Tool right now, a lot having to do with the new tool album coming out soon!! YEAH!

It would be interesting because I hear so many bands being mentioned here and a lot of them I have no clue of.

Right now , i've changed it up and im listening to a band called Sigur Ros, they're icelandic and they play this really mellow style of music, it has great melodies and a good ambient style of music. The singer is a guy but he's got a very high falsetto and it gives a strange sound to the music..

I'm listening to In Flame's Clayman album. They're a Melodic Death metal band, one of the first and arguably the best Gothenburg band (The town they originated in, and the style of Melodic Death). :p

Their albums seem to get less and less complex and melodic as they go on, and the vocals get better. The first few albums are heavy on really melodic classical sounding guitars, and it slowly gets fazed out to a slightly more nu-metal sound. Clayman is more on the new side of In Flames, though still a good album. Better than the two that came afterwards anyway.

I hate the Smashing Pumkins, they pretty much suck

:chug:
I hate you, you suck.

seriously if your going to just outwardly insult peoples favorite bands, without backing up your statements, then just don't post here at all.

Ah, The Amenta are quite good. I think they are a Death Metal band, though.

I've seen them live once, and will be again on Saturday. They are good live, but not great.

Damn you aussies! *shakes fist* Aren't they touring with Behemoth this time too?
I don't see them coming here any time soon. I thought they would have been great live though, it seems like they put so much effort into every aspect of their music, including their live show.

Yeah, they are supports for Behemoth, along with The Furor. They supported Nile a couple on months back too.

The only thing with them live was that they didn't move around much, and the songs seem more repetitive live.

I'm listening to Bleeding Through - The Truth

To be honest, I can't stand 99.5% of metalcore, but I heard good things about this. It's got a lot of death-metal influence, and so far I like it.

I can't listen to the Mars Volta. First I saw them live, that was a mistake. All my respect when fading away (except for Jon Theodore, that man can drum), and then I bought "Fragile" by Yes and realized Volta totally bit their style, and did sloppy job of it. Mediocre band at best.

NP: Quo Vadis - In Contempt

Nice to hear someone shares my opinion... i bought their cd frances the mute after hearing great things about this band... but unfortunately it definitely wasnt my style.... i like how you compared them to Yes, my dad brought me up on yes and im a big fan of theirs!! Have you heard the band Camel? they're prog rock from the 70s and on... they've been around for 30+ years and I saw them live a couple years ago in england... they were brilliant. my parents own all of their albums and when i grew up they have probably played every album a dozen times or more...
Thanks for putting some good posts in here.
What kinda music is Quo Vadis??

By the way please don't just come in here and Bash bands straight out. Thats not this kinda thread if you have a problem with a band at least explain yourself but better yet GTFO.

(Whats the difference in death metal and black metal??)

God, I love the point at 6:36 where they have the nice bass fill and then it explodes into thrash... plus fading into acoustic and then little kids gigling and playing is really creepy :)
