you should put your seat back up again and angle your snare away from you up to a 45 degree angle, Gene Krupa has his snare like this on Sing, Sing, Sing on drummerworld, I have mine at probably around 15 degrees

I like the snare finish and the rest of the finish is okay but not great, and welcome to MX

are those tags hanging off the drums??
why are they still on there?

thats nice..but as u can see in his pics, he's playing match grip. krupa plays trad, and the angling away from u is for *gasp* trad rimshots.

angling the snare away from you works great for matched grip too, I have tried it for about 1 month and I wouldn't consider going back to how I used to play due to the pain I used to get in my wrist from doing hours of rimshot accents from David Garibaldi grooves :thumb: :)

cause we all know that setting your kit up like gene's will make you as good as him. its his kit, dont tell him how to set it up when its perfect the way it is.

if he had the massive tom angles, then you tell him to try makin them flatter, but his is fine how it is.

I am not saying that it will make him as good as Gene Krupa, I am simply saying that it helped me
I thought I was "fine" before I changed it, if you don't try new things how will you find the best set up for yourself
I was simply using the example of Krupa to increase my credibility so people would be more prone to believiing me, Steve Smith, after studying with Freddy Gruber(who convinced Neil Peart to play more with trad), recommended the same thing somewhere I read, I think in Modern Drummer's technique article. I just as easily could have used Steve Smith as an example, I just like Krupa more

Twas a joke, at your expense son. You pad nearly $1,000 per drum. You've been throughly ripped off. There's really no way around that one at all.

I could have walked into any local store and bough a 6 piece DW/Yamaha/Sonor in Laquor or Exotic finish for the same price. Without haggling.

Unless you want to argue your drums sound literally twice as good. Well then, I guess that's why Spaun's so famous.... oh wait............

I know what you mean. I have my shops' down to $2990 for a 6 piece DW f.a.s.t sizes in a satin finish. How could you swing that for an exotic?! *Is curious*

Josiah
01-07-2006, 02:15 PM
Drum prices are cheaper in this area, simply do to the large amount of shops competing for business.

My comment was more along the lines of an exotic kit in store already, ordering one would prob cost a little more.

Even still, 3 grand for 3 drums is nuts.

i didnt say he was. did you even read my post? or just see the name travis barker and assumed i was flamming the threadstarter. i was just telling 'full collapse' he was wrong. that nylon tips dont mark up cymbals.

but travis barker sig sticks DO mark up your cymbals. because they are paint F'ing white. and thats what marked up the threadstarters cymbals, not nylon tips like full collapse says.

so i guess there is something wrong with using a particular pair of sticks.
