Hey guys,

I'm getting bored of listening to the recording of So What on Kind of Blue and I'm wondering if anyone could recommend me some other recordings of it?? Especailly if the head (as in the lead taken on bass) has some interesting variation on it from the kind of blue recording...

cheers!

Hey, Marcus Miller does a great version of this on his "Master of all Trades" DVD.

Don't know if there's an audio version though.

Alternate versions could be those by Ronny Jordan or Bobby Matos.

Instead of posting links I'll leave it to you lot to go and look for them....

I like Ronny Jordan's version, infact the whole The Antidote album is great. Its basically an urban, funked up So What.

i want alternate recordings of so what... i love the song, but i want to hear different artists playing it. im mostly interested in how the bass player tackles walking over the song.

and for those who want to tell me im lazy and to go find differn versions myself, i was asking for recommendations.

thanks to those who have helped!

Ron Carter plays with Miles on the Plugged Nickel concert recordings. They do a wild interpretation of "So What."

Miles in Tokyo (with Carter, Hancock, Williams, and Sam Rivers) has an extremely fast version, as well as Miles in Berlin (with Shorter instead of Rivers).

I also really like Grant Green's version, it's interesting, give it a listen.

I almost forgot Eddie Jefferson's vocal version. It's on the Body & Soul album.
