================================================== ====

ok ok ...to make apocalyptic_raids & KingJay happy, how bout if ill turn this into a funk-Metal thread... ok here it goes

Funk Metal takes the loud guitars and riffs of heavy metal and melds them to the popping bass lines and syncopated rhythms of funk. Funk metal evolved in the mid-'80s when rock bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Faith No More and Fishbone began playing the hybrid with a stronger funk underpinning than metal. The bands that followed relied more on metal than funk, though they retained the wild bass lines. Like heavy metal, the genre became a way to showcase instrumental prowess.

Happy now?!

Don't get me wrong. Funk-Metal is one of my favorite genres. Faith No More were great. Hell, anything with Mike Patton were great. RHCP (while not strictly metal) are easily one of my fave bands.

I just don't like illegal threads is all. Oh well, no mods on atm.

The song Obscura (not the album) by Gorguts sounds pretty funk-metal to me.

Other than that I can't really offer anything to this thread.

Well I can say that the combination of funk and metal is something that isn't exploited enough! I need more!

Jay, I think you would help more by posting a link to the thread in the Report Problems thread.

It's annoying when people just say "should be in _____" and then don't report the thread.

They are, but they have this experimental album called Obscura, and the title track is very spastic and funky. Just listen to this title track and I think you'll see what I mean. It's essentially death metal but the funk influence is undeniable. One of my favourite songs of all time.

I was watching Beavis And Butthead one time and they played a video by some funk-metal group. Robert Trujillo was in it too. Obviously isn't wasn't Metallica or Suicidal Tendencies. I don't remember the name of the band or the song. All I remember is the line "sticks and stones may break my bones but a 45 gonna blow your damn head off" Yeah...

But otherwise though the music was pretty cool

I'm not a big fan of aldo either, got one of his albums from the discount music store for $2, its pretty funky its kinda tacky though.... wonder if any of his other albums are any good cause there is potential. Didn't he used to play for Bon Jovi or David Lee Roth or someone else with big hair?

I bought Pork Soda when i was 12, took me 7 years of casual listening to even try and like it, sounded like rubbish. Now it is one of my favourite CD's. Go figure.

Definitely; I was turned on to them only today and already I'm enthralled. There's a bunch of free mp3s here (http://www.electricboys.com/bonus.html). I recommend 'Freewheelin',' 'Black Betty,' 'Funk-o-Metal Carpet Ride' and 'Get Nasty.' Their singer is Conny Bloom, formerly of SilverGinger5.

I'm not sure why this genre is known as 'funk-metal' when it's far more funk than metal. Bands like Electric Boys, Extreme and Bang Tango were metal bands which utilised funk- I'd suggest looking in to all 3, especially the latter.
