Im in the market for a new bass. I dont want to spend over 700 or so and I am looking mainly for a great hard rock/ metal bass. What kind should I get? Any help is aprreciated. Thanks!

spector legend series are wicked or maybe try a warwick rockbass corvette or something, but theres really nothing wrong with a squier for a starter maybe just chuck a dimarzio to get it sounding a bit better

Warwick........or maybe even a fender squire if your strapped for cash.

You could get a MIM Fender and mod it. Change the pickups to what you personally like. That's what I did and I love my P bass.

Schecters seem to be used a lot for heavier stuff. I own a Schecter, and they're really nice.

Yamaha or Ibanez possibly.

Try things out, see what you like.

I believe he is asking if it is US dollars, pounds, quid, yen etc! The thread starter doesn't have his location listed.

As far as the bass goes, if you are comfortable on Ebay you can get the most for your money. A US Fender Jazz or a Warwick Corvette Std. maybe?

Yes I meant dollars...and Ive had an Ibanez GSR 200 for a few years so I just want something better ya know? Could someone also explain the difference in pickups to me? I know some are active/passive etc... but which kind are best for which type of music and so on...Thanks!
