^ Whoa...3 minutes...give it a second, dude! :p

800 AUD is like, 600 USD, right?

For that, I'd go with a Peavey TNT 115. I have one for practice (I use my GK for gigging) and I love it. It's built like a tank. Peavey amps are infamous for not breaking and holding up strong against anything you can throw at them.

The tone's great. It can get a bit muddy at high volumes, but it's a 1x15, that's what you expect. It's got plenty of output and power, though, so the volume isn't really a favtor. It's plenty loud!

Anyway, back to the tone. You have a 7 band graphic EQ to shape your tone all you want. It's extremely versatile.

Give it a look and let me know what you think.

What sort of tone are you looking for? Number of watts? Preferred brands?

If you're just getting a new amp for the sake of a new amp, you might just want to save up and get something a lot better further down the road instead of getting something marginally better and wanting something else later.

Bass amps are heavy, man. :p

^ lowsound: Hey!

I'm 17...I'll be 18 April 7.

Trust me, all it needs is wheels on it and it's easy to move around. Don't worry about it. You won't get a good amp that produces good tone(s) and is loud, solid, and light...trust me. The weight is worth the sacrifice.

Thanks...there; proof I'm not an idiot and have at least some idea of what I'm talking about. :amaze:

They really are worth the weight, though...trust me. They're not that bad to carry. Like I said, slap some wheels on there and it'll be fine.

those are actually really nice basses, but if you want an amp that is just as indestructable and sounds better go for yorkville

might i suggest an ashdown. i'm not sure about their combos but you could get the a mag300 head and a used cab of some sort for a very nice price and the tone is really nice imo.

It's a combo; an amplifier with a 1x15 Peavey speaker.

If it was ME, I'd go SWR, or maybe Hartke.

I currently have a Peavey, though, which I bought because it was cheap and had a good tone, although a bit uneven. It's lightweight only because the enclosing was redone :p (45lbs?).

There are no new Peavey amps I like, though.

that means nothing. always try before you buy.

threadstarter, you should be able to get a roland cube 100 for that, i am

my head (ampeg svt 4 pro) weighs like 50 pounds by itself, it actually weighs more than my cab (eden 2x10), and i had a tko 1X15, and an swr 1X15, the 15s are good for gigs, specially since they are combos and you dont need much to move em, but, the TNT when it comes to stairs, wheels or not LOOKOUT! i say this from experience no one needs a sprained ankle or bruised rib from having the thing land on you

I'm going to have to disagree about the TNT115 getting muddy at high volumes. I've been using one for years, and pushing it to high volumes is the only thing that's going to really bring out the tweeter and let you cut through. Lower it sounds fairly dull. Not to mention it has quite a few buttons/knobs/contraptions on the front that contour and help you get more treble out of it. it all depends on how you eq it

Exactly what iwas gonna say when i read the title.

When i was looking for an amp i was checking the local music shop out for anything new and saw the cube 100 for about 700 (on special mind you).

Any way the point is, if my budget wasnt substantially higher and i wasn't looking for something louder i would have bought that.

Cube 100:smash:

Behringer BX3000 or 4500 with a Behringer 1x15 or 2x10.

about the heaviness issue

you didn't mention this amp was going to be used for gigging...therefore doesn't have to be moved...then why should you care if it weighs 2 tons?

I will second the idea of getting a Roland Cube, else I would look into Peavey and SWR like other people have suggested.

Check out these pages.

http://www.musicianswarehouse.com.au/default.aspx?pg=20&SubDepartment=Bass+Guitar+Amps&category=Combos&categoryID=163

I have not had a lot of experiance with the amps on that page so maybe some of the other users can give their two cents.

It's based in Australia which means cheaper shipping. I assume.
