 Hey guys i made a recording yesterday, and i would really like some feed back, on the composition, the technique and anything else you can think of i spose. I randomly called it "Another Day". Its 1 track of bass, thats all. I wanted to try and be as musical as possible with only the bass.
So yeah, please give us some constructive criticism.

timeing is kinda crappy, but over all not that bad. get the timing better and it would be a very nice song

Haha when I saw the title I thought "another Dream Theater cover :upset:"
Then I realized the first chord was almost exactly the same as Another Day in the DT song and I'm like
Aw man that slap line is great.

Timing has always been a low point for me in solo bass stuff, i need to start recording to a click track.
Thanks for the comments guys

I made the song the song a while back after i watched the Bela Fleck and the Flectones dvd, i was inspired by Bela's banjo playing. So its funny that u'd say it sounds a bit country, coz i was influenced by that kind of stuff at the time.

Nice song and good flow, my only crit is that in the beginning, one of your higher strings is a tiiiiiiny bit flat. But, I'm pickier about that than most people.
And I certainly couldn't play like that!
Downloading now Troy...

It's good
The intonation in the high frets is a tad flat. It really gets to me because I'm picky about that.
At around 1:25 to 1:30 you're in the wrong key and that also drives me crazy because I'm picky.
Doesn't it drive you crazy?

You act like I'm supposed to read posts other than the first one.
Any chance we could see either tabs or video. that sounds amazing, i am just curious how hard it actually is.

No this was in a totally different thread. I'm saying that we made an almost identical critique in 2 different threads.

Well i havnt tabbed it out as of yet, and i don't have the equipment to video it. But i could probably try and tab bits of it out, i never really plan these recordings, i had the main slap bit, but i play the song differently each time.

Gawd, now you're expecting me to read your whole posts, too? This is completely unreasonable!

I know you like having the fresh air 'round your nethers. Otherwise you get a bit dank.
That's really cool Troy!

Listening to it now...so far it sounds really good. The slap is pretty sweet.
I have noticed some of the timing "problems" or whatever, but that is an awesome recording all in all.

i have the model below that, the AB505, like urs they dont make em anymore. it was a fairly good bass. it has a nice thin neck and a light body. cant say i could get a decent slap tone out of it, may becos it has a p and a j, but i dunno. i have an ashton fretless as well.. thats a good bass.
there strange things, those ashtons.

I thought it was great, but I wouldn't have slapped the line you slapped, it was a bit messy and sorta ruined the feel for the song, if you had plucked or tapped it then it would've sounded better

Sounds pretty good but the areas that you should work on as stated earlier is your timing issue but also your string ringout. By allowing the to continue to sound even after you move on to other areas takes away from the clarity of the piece. It sounds like very good material with great promise though. Keep playing and adding to it.:thumb:
