Well i'm here listening to some nile, and some of karl sanders' solo work, and he just uses all these weird azz sounds that i really have NO possible clue from wence they came.

so more specifically, what instruments were used in say...his solo work Temple of Lunar Ascension

i really want to know what he uses to get the extremely low pitched vowel sounds he gets...those sound awesome

any input regarding the instruments would be good

Nile are great, Egyptian sounding death metal, really interesting, I am very fond of Annihiliation of the Wicked, but I don't know much about the bands history or anything

they werent very loud for a death metal band.

io guess this post is kinda pointless hahaha

I'd jump at the chance to see them live, but they never come to the UK, which sucks.

I personally can't help you threadstarter.
But, I could probably see them anytime I wanted seeing as how I live in southern North Carolina.

What sounds are you refering to? Sounds with his guitar? or sounds from difrent instruments?

Nile is one of my fav death metal bands, my fav is modern Behemoth.

I think Karl composes most of that Egyptian sounding stuff on his solo album and Nile's intro songs using MIDI.

I'm not 100% sure on this, though.

The name of the instrument he uses is in the Annihilation of the Wicked liner notes, but i cant be bothered going and having a look. Also he mucks about with tunings a lot.

He composes it on midi and plays it on his instrument.

Ah.

I just remember him mentioning that MIDI in the liner notes when he is talking about the intro track on AOTW.

When I think of Nile, I instantly also think of Behemoth and Hate Eternal....

Hate eternal? I guess its the Morbid angel still in Rutan. And roddy used to be in nile. So essentially they are the same band.

They resently done a tour across the UK and the US with Incantation and Kastrated; which ive yet to find any mp3's from. I went to the gig in Manchester was pritty good but, they werent imprressed when someone tried to get onto the stage and the lead singers microphone feel on the floor just before singing. The crowd at the time were giving off impressions that the 'Annihilation of the wicked album' (there latest cd) wasnt up to standard and wanted the band to play just old stuff. I honestly prefer ther new cd, worth buying; i did :naughty:
