Am I Slapping? Part 2

ok i posted a clip of me attempting to slap a while back. i have since put new strings on, and I think that the old strings were the reason it sounded so bad.

Anyway, am I slapping?

i think it sounds about right, make sure you're keeping your fist closed and the only part hitting the fretboard is the bone on the side of your thumb

The Pop, is the sound you hear more of... those who dont know confuse it with the slap sound...

As they cant understand why it would be called slap bass, when the pop is the more distinctive percussive sound.

you're slapping wayy to close to the bridge. You're supposed to slap next to the fretboard.

I'm not an expert or anything but I think it would be a lot nicer if you would add some popping. like this;

Your bass has a nice tone.:thumb: Try to refrain from slapping on the higher string, it tends to sound thin. Good luck!

i understand that, but the strings have a lot less tension at the fretboard than at the bridge. It would be easier to slap up there.

not to mention it will likely sound much better. :) Popping is also pretty impossible at the bridge
