That's really awesome. I'd love to try that.

Building it doesn't look too hard.

I don't see how that is possible for it to be instant...

That's a rather novel idea. I don't think i'd pay that much though.

I was thinking sometime ago about the possibility of something like that... Still couldn't see it being all too reliable all the time

Well that's different.

I can't imagine that bass costing NEARLY as much to make as they charge. Probably $1200 to make.

**sigh** Greedy bastages!

Having the frets all loose on some contraption might take away significantly from sustain as well.

I recall seeing something like this from the...late 80s, early 90s? a couple months ago.

By Hamer or something.

Wait. Steinberger?

Don't remember.

I didn't get how it works...

Steinberger tried it years ago. It turned out to suck, cuz, gee golly, hollowing out your neck and filling it will movable parts... well, that just kills your tone! Think of repair costs, too, because with all the mechanisms required to work that, you can't expect it to work very well for long.

^ I agree with LEC...the neck has a lot more tension on it than people realize, and hollowing it out at certain points like that is just going to kill the tension equilibrium. Can you say "new bow" or "snapped neck?"

That won't last long at all...however, it is a neat idea. Seems like Michael Manring would use it effectively.

What a boring bass. If it wasn't for the fretboard, I'd see no real reason to pay that much for such a bland thing...

Yeh if i had 5000 to blow, i'd get a fretless bass and a fretted bass.. and still have 3000 to blow

SixnStones

its kl, i'd play it b4 i bought it tho. And i'd want to play one that someone had owned and used for a couple years

Pluperfect_Arson

I think that bass looks dumb. It might be nice to try out, but there's no way that I'd blow 5000$ on that thing. There's much better things I could buy with that kind of money.

The only thing that's really all that interesting on the bass in the fretted/fretless neck. I'd become bored of it way too quickly to be honest.
