Title says it all. I'm looking for a good, yet cheap loop station. Doesn't have to be anything real pro, just something to get the job done. Ted once showed me a Behringer looper, which I am heavily considering (as it's probably cheap :p) but can't find it anywhere...

Any other reasonably priced loopers?

$300

that sounds relatively cheap, 300 isnt bad for a loop station as they can be astronomical in price

Yes, i too am looking for a good cheap loop station!

The two cheap ones you'll find are the Digitech Jamman and the Boss RCXL-20. I recommend the boss.

Are those the cheapest?

Bleh. It's worth it, I guess...

My multi fx pedal does it.

Admittedly not as well as an actual pedal, but because I put a flash card in there, it can record 3 minutes or so.

See if theres anything along those lines that would do it.

I wouldn't recommend my pedal because its fairly terrible other than that and the rhythm function.

Even though 300 dollars seems expensive for a function thats rather simple, trust me. It's worth every penny. The number of hours of self-jammage you'll get out of this thing is staggering.

You could get it on ebay for 200 probably.

exactly what i did. works beautifully. but i wish i could say the same for the power supply i bought to go with it(broken).

Even if I go used, the shipping COULD bring it up on par with a new one.

Exactly, and you also run the risk of getting a ****e pedal and saving 25$

There's a Boss RC-20 on ebay for $150 with only one day left.

Edit: oops..It's US shipping only. Sorry Jorge. :-\

i've played through a friends boss looper thing (the one with two switches) it was neat, but i don't know how i'd use it. he got it used for $230.

I think my next pedal purchase will be the Jamman. It'll pair well with the POD.

As far as cheaper alternatives... you could get a delay pedal that sports a simple loop delay, but it won't give you many loop functions.

The BOSS Loop Station is the way to go.

So any users of the Boss RCXL20? I have some questions about it, you know how the website doesnt answer everything you need to know.

I have the regular version, not the souped up XL, but I should be able to answer some questions for you. Shoot.

1) How many loops can you run at once?
2) Is there a limit to how long your loops can be?

I understand there's 16 minutes of recording time, but is that for one loop, or for all of your loops combined?

3) I know you can run a bass and a mic through it at the same time, but could you possibly put another instrument into the mic input? Say I want to play my bass and keyboard through it at the same time.

4) How much power does it require (in ma)?

5) Do the chickens have large talons?

1. Basically, an infinite number of loops. You start with a basic pattern and overdub to your hearts content.

2. You can save your patterns in 10 slots. Those 16 minutes are divided over those slots. Believe me, thats plenty of time. I see no real practical use for anything more than a minute.

3. I've done that before. The only difference is the mic input significantly boosts the signal. You can easily change that by adjusting the levels.

4. I'm using a 9 volt adapter for mine.

5. Not that large, really. You get used to it after a while, but using them did have a steep learning curve. You'll be shedding for a while getting the knack of them, but it's well worth it.

1 and 2) So you have an infinite number, but only 10 slots? How does that work? And I thought it was 11 slots, unless the extra one is to solo over?

3) Got it.

4) I know it's 9 volt, but what is the rating in milliamps? I need to know because I use a daisy chain system and I can't overload it.

5) So, if you got cut with one of the talons, would it bleed?

For 1 and 2 I think what he's trying to say is, you can have as many loops as you want as long as when they are all added together they are under 16 minutes.

Radiobass81

So, in a slot, you could have like 10 tracks?

I see.

Useful!

HaVIC5
01-05-2006, 05:44 PM
1+2) Well, theres a distinction between loop and save slot. In one save slot, you can literally overdub as many times as you can stand to hear since it bumps all the overdubs to one track. Not just 10 times, you could go for 100 or 1000 or whatever. After you have all that going, you can save that into one slot if you want to play it back later. There are 10 slots in all. 16 total minutes of saved playback.

4) 200 mA. I use a daisy chain with 4 other doodads connected so it seems fine to me.

5) Well, depends. If you are a typical bass player like me, you have a supertensile composite for skin with ultrametabolic platlet-generating structures and cross-temporal antimatter generators in the blood stream that would not only stop bleeding before it started and destroy the chicken talon, but would actually fling the talon into another dimension, defying all previously held scientific postulates on time and space.

Then again, if you're mortal, then you'll probably bleed if you dig in too much.

I've just put an RC-20XL on layby (layaway for you Americans), and should own it within 5 weeks. Yay for me.
