I just finished installing a pair of straplocks on my Schecter. I got a pair for my Fender a week or two ago and put them on; it was easy since American Fenders come with the pins already installed. I was afraid it would be tougher to install them from scratch on another bass.

It went without a hitch. The trick is that when you take the original strap pins off use the screws that held them in to put on the new pins instead of using the screws that came with the straplocks. This makes sure the threads are the same. If you unscrew and rescrew softly the threads will be undamaged and just as solid as before you put the new pins on.

how much do strap locks run? USD

for safe measure, i'd say put some wood filler or a tooth pick or something down in there, couldn't hurt, right?...

The Schallers I got at a local music store were $20 new. When I bought just the Schaller tops for my Fender I got them for $3 used.

The guy at the music store said that if they didn't fit to use the toothpick/wood filler trick. Since I used the same screw it fit perfectly and there was no need to do that.

They also don't just snap off, correct?

It's very conveinent to be able to slip off the strap to tuck it away in the case instead of trying to force it to fit.

well, my stap has clips on it so i can basically just take 95% of the strap off. also, i have no problems getting mine in the case..?..

Ooo, good advice. I just ordered straplocks for my P-bass and my Les Paul, so i can go even crazier when I play. :thumb:

My Fender came with a case designed to fit it, and I have a wide leather strap so it doesn't fit well; I have to take it off.

^where's brooklyn?... in relation to Columbus

um, as far as i can tell (i dont have any yet) they come in 2 piece's... 1 screws into the spot where your old strap button was....... then the other piece somehow attaches to your strap, and you snap the 2 pieces together and it's supposed to lock em tight.... so you dont have to worry about it breaking....

i just use the red rubber washers that you get on some beer bottle, better than free cos you get a bottle of beer AND free straplocks.

Grolsch is the beer you are talking about. I was gonna do that but its harder to find those bottles over here in the states.

I epoxyed the screws in when I put on straplocks.

Grolsch and other more obscure beers. finally something that is easier to get in the UK rather than the states
