Well I don't know your username but I know you Post here. Have you made a bass for Les Claypool because in the video Les Claypool/The Frog Brigade (it goes like "Johnny come lately, Alll through the country......") he is using a bass which looks Identical to one of yours. Sorry if I'm completely off or if this has been talked about before but I'm curious atm. Thanks.

Les Claypool uses almost exclusively Carl Thompson Basses. Winters Custom has a model that looks like it, which you may of confused with one of Les's basses.

Quite possibly.

JPBass is his username.

And no, I'm 99.999999% lim x --> 100% sure he hasn't. One of his designs looks similar to Les Claypool's because Les uses Carl Thompsons, like Ben said.

I bet he'll get a kick out of this. I sure did!

^ Nah, I can see why you'd get them confused. They have similar shapes and if you don't see Winters basses every day like you see Fenders, Warwicks, MusicMan, Ibanez, etc., you'd be a bit confused. We all know what those basses look like (their shapes, contours, general ideas of those shapes, etc.), but you don't see Winters Customs every day. It makes sense to me, anyway.

I was listening to Les' commentary over "Jerry Was a Racecar Driver" on the Animals Should Not Try to Act Like People DVD and it shows Les playing with his CT. He makes mention of the lack of its horn in the video. He sent it back to Carl who slapped a huge, crazy horn on it.

I haven't, but you're probably thinking of the Scroll bass right?

I wish I made a bass for Les. If I did, I'd have to stop taking orders because I'd be backlogged.

Such is the horror of the situation Carl Thompson finds himself in!

From what I understand, Carl isn't going to make the amount of basses like he used to. He's not going to be taking any more orders. He said he might make one or 2, but he's basically retireing from the business.

I believe he isn't taking any new orders, simply finishing the ones he took before announcing his retirement

A niche in the market for JP to fill?

Perhaps... I think JP should send a bass Les' way to let him try it out. Who knows? Maybe he'll like it so much and JP will be set. :thumb:

I'm going to haunt JP.. In the hope he will post here. (I hate the fact that we don't have PM's)

Can you answer my question about your EQ in the last thread?

yeah about 8 months ago i tried to order one and aaron told me they weren't taking anymore orders. bummed me out at first. but when i really think about it i don't need a $5,000 bass. would have been the coolest thing i'd had ever owned, by far

You could get the same thing for about 1/2 that. It would just be a different name on the headstock. :p
