This is complete bulls**t. They can't just take away Mxtabs, or any other tab sites because a few artists feel that these sites will hinder their music sheet sales.
First of all, most of these tabs, im sorry to say this guys, aren't really that good. Most of them aren't written in the right key that the actually song is played in, or there missing large portions of the song. This means that tabs aren't really the quality song transcriptions that you "Complaining Artist's" think they are. So for those of us ba****rd perfectionist muscians (God help us!!) who would like to to play the song like the artist actually played it, we have to go out and buy the f***ing music anyway.
One minor reason why tab sites should not be banned however, is simply because they contain the music transcriptions (No matter how bad they may be.) of bands that don't even have their music in publishing. Bands like Opeth and Black Dahlia Murder don't have sheet music for me to buy, so I have to rely on the notating skills of my musical brothers across the country because I sure as hell cannot transcribe for S**T (Trust me, im tone deaf. Not a very good quality for a musician.). If they get rid of the sites, im basically cut off from all the music that I want to play from the underground bands.
Probably a loophole that can be used in defese of the tab site is that tabs are basically the transcribers own version of the song. They are not (As I have said before.) the actual version of the song. They are simply the own personal interpretation of the original composers song. And as I have said before, even though about 80% of the tabs are crappy, you do come across a few that are (I hope I don't get shot for this. My apologies to those whom it offends.) even better then the original artists song.
The point of this "little essay", is that you can't shut down the tab sites because their really just a place where musicians share their own versions of songs that they have heard. A giant place where musicians can communicate with one another by sending wannabe music scores (Some of these scores aren't even copyright infriging because the original artist hasn't officially published them or patented their song.) via internet.
P.S Don't agencies have better things to do then shut down tabs sites, like keeping away the kiddies from Po*nography or terrorist sites. LOL
O yeah. Responding to the previous thread. Sorry dude, with all this political bulls**t going on, it is going to be very hard to find a tab of anything right now.
