So who else is dissapointed with this record.I feel it didn't quite live up to HSFHP.And they are going post-metal in some songs with the heavy distortion and stuff.

They've had heavy songs on all their albums though. I think it's a great record.

I'd agree with Smackers... I think Mr. Beast is a great record. It has a great sound to which is more similar to pre-Happy Songs Mogwai. Through and through, it is very solid.

I am the only person in the world who hasn't heard it yet. I'm still struggling with soulseek because I don't know where the hell to look for things.
I'm really excited for it, though. I just started listening to 'come on die young' a lot again. Mogwai is sick.

I'm waiting until the real album comes out. I'm really looking forward to it.

Well my copy finally arrived today so I thought I might bump this thread now it's been officially released and that...
After a couple of listens I think it's a solid album. A lot of it reminds me of "Rock Action" which I love. A really like the variety of guitar tones used throughout the album especially on "Glasgow Mega-Snake".

I like this album, especially Auto Rock, Emergency Trap, Folk Death 95, Friend Of The Night, Glasgow Mega-Snake, Team Handed, and We're No Here.
So, that's most of them. :p

It feels like they're going in for the climax throughout the whole song and not leaving any room for the buildup
I like that more from them, basically because they're songs for the most part are on the shorter side.
For the thread topic's sake, ive only listened to it twice but Mr. Beast is fantastic

Young Team is their best.
The songs on Mr. Beast are too short and unfulfilling.

Young Team really isn't their best.
I saw them four days ago
I like it, though I'm not sure what's their best album they have a lot of their past genres in there; the short piano pieces, the loud tracks and the atmospheric epic songs, though I do agree that the tracks are too short.
Also that one song with the Japanese person talking totally ripped off Dredg.

I wanted to see them when they were in NYC, and I was in NYC, but I couldn't find any tickets anywhere. Now they're coming to Vancouver, but I'm not old enough to get in the door.
I'm angry.

At Sonar? Because that's where I saw them. I left pretty disappointed. They totally ****ed up "I Know you are but What am I?" and the show didn't get good until the last four songs when they played Stanly Kubrick, Glasgow Mega-Snake, Cody and We're No Here.

"Friend Of The Night" and "Glasgow Mega-Snake" are two of the best songs this band has ever done. Mr. Beast is a beauty, as good as every record by them.

The songs are just to short. The album feels rushed and unorganized. That being said I enjoy a few tracks, but the album was a huge letdown.

I've only just heard about this album after being internetless for god knows how long - however I will be downloading this very shortly.

Mogwai is better than the **** you listen to. Don't let them read this or they'll insult you on their website.
Anyway, I was listening to Mr. Beast again and I asked myself, "Remember when Mogwai was good?" Those days are gone.

Is it possible for you to have any ****ing respect for anyone else's opinion? Grow up.

Yeah, they pale in comparison to other similar bands I listen to, IMO.

We are in disagreement. Perhaps it could have been worded another way, but usually I don't care enough to think how people are going to react. It is disrespectful, there's no doubt about that, but this is how I feel and I'm not going to take back anything I said.
In regard to the whole "insult you on their website" thing: Mogwai used to have a warning on their website that read something like, "If you are easily offended by such and such comments made by the band hoo-ha whatever, we recommend that you exit this site." They've said bad things about certain publications. I'm not wrong in assuming they would do the same with specific persons.

We are in diasagreement.
Why didn't you say "we disagree"? Are you trying to make yourself sound like an *** hole? It's working.
I've never been a big fan of post rock, and Mogwai are ok. Young Team is my favourite.

I like the CD. I don't love it, but I do like it a lot.
I got the 'deluxe limited edition' with the DVD, and I can't understand a word they say. The live stuff is dope, though.

I would have said "we disagree," but that looks kind of stupid. I'm not saying what I said sounded/looked smart, it just sounds and looks better. If I type something that looks "off," I'll feel uneasy until I either correct it or do something to distract myself, but that usually doesn't happen. Doing something distracting, that is. It's a problem I cannot get over.
