I love my bassy low end, and I'm thinking of trading in my hartke VX3500 Bass Combo(4x10 and 350 hartke head) for a 2x10 or something like that and a pre/power amp since I hear this is so amazing. This is only my first real amp, aside from a first act starter, and I need to research and let my last purchase cool off before I can ask my dad about a trade in. Now, what I need to know if what do you think I could get(http://samash.com/catalog/showitem.asp?ItemPos=51&TempID=2&STRID=212438&Method=2&CategoryID=0&BrandID=1373&PriceRangeID=0&PageNum=5&DepartmentID=0&pagesize=10&SortMethod=3&SearchPhrase=&Contains=&Search_Type=SEARCH&GroupCode=)
and would I get more trading the head and cab in seperate?
Now I also need to know what is a good pre/power amp for low end, and what is a good cab?
Thanks all!
edit: What I'm really trying to say is i wanna trade in previous half stack to get a 2x10(looking at avatar kappa pro) and a preamp and power amp that will give me a boomy bass/mid sound, but I won't have that on a 2x10 so, I wanna get as close as I can because I want to downsize. I really don't need what I have because I'm not even in a band anyway.

Kinda sounds like you want a 1x15 of sorts. With the set up I have (1x15/2x10) I can get a pretty nice defined bottem with some nice punchy mids. But for a low end mess 1x15's can help with that. Or at least in my experiances.

Why don't you just trade in the cab and keep the head?
Unless you really want pre/power.
Edit: What about a 2x12? 12's usually have the lowend of a 15 and the mid and highs of a 10.

the head and cab are a "combo" I can easily unbolt the cab from the head, but then the cab has a big hole in it. Check my link for reference.

man, my topics usually hit the 2nd page before some like Gav, Or Edge Posts in it, then i get replies... lol
anyways... do what ya do.... 2x10s is going to give you less boom then 4x10s... i think, dont take my word for it, but i think thats true... 1 15 will give u more bass then a 4x10s... i dont know what bass you play, but soloing a Neck Pick Up and Playing closer to the neck will give you a bassier tone.

Yeah, my neck pickup is pretty high and I love my neck pickup. Bridge pickup is ugly sound. I also need to downsize, I have a huge rig and don't gig or play in a band, so when I wanna jam with a friend or something its a big deal. i was also thinking about that pre/poweramp deal and looks pretty cool.

The fact that I was just compared to edge regarding tech stuff just made my head spin. :amaze: Thanks, Nav.
Might wanna save up cash and get an Ampeg. They'll do it for ya.
For the cab size, I'd say you get a 1x15 and 2x12. The 1x15 will have command over all your lows while the 2x12 will have a lot of punch and low end but still have clear highs. Think of it like this:
A 115 is "bass." The 410s are "treble and high-end punch." The 212 is an amalgam of the two, combining the notable aspects of both.
Look for something like that. If you're going to get them at different times, get the 2x12 first and then get the 1x15.
As for the head, Ampegs can be a bit pricey, but they'd be well worth it for the tone you want. I'd suggest Mesa, but those are a bit out of your price range, I assume.
Need anything else, just ask.
EDIT: Forgot to mention: for extra bass and low end, boost your neck pickup and play closer to the neck, like Naveed said. It adds a lot to your tone. Also, try not to pluck with your fingers as aggressively. If you pluck them lightly but firmly, you'll get a smooth low end that's creamy like butter. Do with that what you will, man, but it helps. :D

Oh, sorry. :-/
I'd say the usual QSC/Tech 21 combo would be nice for the price. Plus the 2x10 you want.

hehe, i like to think mutes+soloing the neck up+ Finger picking over the 12th gives me a upright tone... but im dreaming... its not even close, but u call it "My Upright Tone"
