although Ive never really listened to that much of grind and metal core music, Ive read up about them and they all kind of fit the same description of thrash. Could somebody tell me the difference of these three genres and their eras or when they were popular.

Well, I'll let you decide what the difference is by telling you some bands.
Thrash - Bruce Banner, Voetsek, Crucial Unit, Scholastic Deth
Grindcore - ****... I'm Dead, Pig Destroyer, Phobia, Sayyadina
Metalcore - Converge, All Else Failed, Will Haven, Unearth

Thrash ---->Slayer, old Metallica, Anthrax
Grindcore is chaotic music influenced by hardcore, sometimes similar to death metal in some aspects, IMO (Napalm Death, old Carcass)
Metalcore is basically metal with breakdowns (Converge, Botch)
