should all reviews submitted be mod approved, i am asking this while thinking of the first submissin of my franz ferdinand review

i believe they should as it would make mods having to skim every review to see if it's good quality or not. so we wouldn't have any amazingly bad reviews *cough* Jeff Buckley's Grace *cough*

downside would be a possibly increased workload

How does that reduce their workload?

edit: nevermind, you edited. I say only new users need to be moderated. The majority of the reviews that are submitted by second+ timers are of good quality. Better to delete the odd one that gets by than to make the mods have to approve every review.

I think it would increase their workload, but it would cut down on the number of sub par reviews on the site.

No. If a regular submits a joke review, I'll ban them for it. Otherwise, their peers will let them know that their review sucks, and they'll wind up asking me to delete it so they can re-write it.

I don't see a point in this thread, but if Damrod or Med want to add anything, they are more than welcome to.

We added first time approval for a reason:

Keeping joke reviews and REALLY bad ones from the archives, catching joke accounts etc.

This is going to stay, and (if it was up to me) would be added for album and news submissions as well
