So, I read a couple months ago that this is the name of the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album coming out. I think it will oust all their other albums. They have said they are combining the old funky hip hoppety sound with the new laid back mellow sound.

Here is the track listing:

Dani California ( The first acclaimed single to be out)
Stadium Arcadium
Hard to Concentrate
Desecration Smile
Charlie
Snow
For the 21st Century
Readymade
Tell Me Baby
Especially Michigan
Only 18

Mothers Milk = awesome

Probably the only RHCP album i actually like, as catchy as most of their stuff is i just cannot stand Kiedis' vocal style, that half rap style is just too reminiscent of Fred Durst to be allowed. I just find them a bit bland really. But each to their own, i listen to (and love) lots of bands which many will find bland, it's all down to taste.

I'll listen to the singles, they may surprise me, the musicians certainly have enough talent to do so.

I look forward to the new album, although I'm more looking forward to the prospect of seeing them live sometime this year.

Same, i think it was great. I can't think of anything they've done i dont like.

I can't wait, 25 songs on this. They were gonna do 3 albums but instead gonna release the 3rd 2 years later i read.

I'm pretty sure you mean that Fred Durst's style is reminiscent of Anthony Kiedis. The Chili Peppers are over 20 years old and Kiedis has been using that same style practically the whole time.

If you asked me a few months ago, I'd say I'll get this definately... but now I'm not so sure.

I used to be a huge fan but I kinda lost interest recently. If I hear some good songs of it, I'll pick it up, but I'm not that enthusiastic.

oh, and new RHCP > old, imo.

I'm their biggest fan, so yes, that is the name of the new album. It will infact be a double album released in April/May. The first single, Danni California, is the journey of the character mentioned in By The Way (Danni the girl is singing songs to me beneeth the marquee....)

And then I got this from Wikipedia:
In 2005, they completed their ninth studio album, Stadium Arcadium, which is to be a double album revisiting their funk, punk, psychedelic, and metal roots in turn producing some of the hardest material they ever released. Some songs, such as "21st Century", "Tell Me Baby", "Ready Made", "Desecration Smile", "Dani California" (which was confirmed to be the very first single), "Charlie", amongst others have been confirmed to be on the album and some were performed live in concerts in Atlantic City, Las Vegas, and New York. The album is to be released in April 2006 with a world tour being launched the following month.

Lets not be pedantic, what i meant is that everytime i hear Kiedis it just reminds me of Durst, not that he was in any way the first one to do it, Limp Bizkit/Durst are just the most cringeworthy example of the style i could think of off the top of my head.

Me too. It's a very close second for me, behind BSSM.

I was really dissapointed when they didn't release their new album last year as I'd first heard. But hearing now that it's going to be a double album, the delay's probably a good thing.

I'm with you their. Californication and BSSM are great albums, but I find that BTW is the only one thats solid from start to finish.

I also think as each new album is released I find them better and better, hopefully this trend will continue with the new album.

Agreed. I thought BTW was an extremely boring album overall. I really only enjoyed Minor Thing and Venice Queen. I hope that with this new album they go back to their old sound, especially on BSSM and OHM.

Stadium Arcadium was set to be a treble album, but RHCP shortened to a double album. So that can't be the track listing well at least not all of it anyway.
Frusicante has also said this a reaction to 'mellow' sound of by the way

Why do bands have to keep putting out double albums? Listening to a good double album just gets me upset from thinking about how it could have been an incredible single album.

I do expect this album to be really good though. BTW was the best album they ever put out, in my opinion.

I think they really put some effort in this album, and it shows. The songs are great, and Kiedis' singing is top-notch. Flea seems to have taken a backseat on this album, and Chad Smith displays some average drumming, but it works. From the tabs already online, it seems Frusciante's guitar work is more complicated than it has been on the past two albums. I'm not really digging the distorted leads with the wah though; liked his clean chorus tone more on the past two albums.

clearvision
05-03-2006, 08:11 AM
Frusciante seems to want to be hendrix throughout this album. And i don't know if it was just the sheer volume of unfamiliar music but i was pretty bored the whole way through :-/

I quite like RHCP, I'm no huge fan but they have some songs which I dig. Though, this album, for me, is hard to listen to. All the songs sound similar and two hours of it just so bewildering. I quite liked Dani California, and I found Hump De Bump to entertaining, if anyone could point out other good songs in the album to listen to, so I don't have to sift through it all, that would be great. Overall, I think it's a pretty bad album, I listened to it once (not all the way through) and havn't gone back.

dirtyblueballoon
05-03-2006, 10:35 PM
i think the album is pretty sweet. i mean its gonna take like forever to really get into it cuz its so damned long, but from listening a couple of times i think im really going to end up digging this. its like a mix of a little everything they did in the 90's. the funkyness of b.s.s.m., the great stadium pop songs/chorus's of californication, and the moving melodies of by the way plus add on some hendrix-esque solos w/ massive wah and BAM! STADIUM F*CKING ARCADIUM. im going to see them oct. 23 in philly, and i know its a long while off, but w/ the mars volta, that shows gonna rock so effin hard.

also, you guys cant accuse me of stealing the leaked album really. i paid $20 for it thru i-tunes. im just getting it a week earlier from soulseek lol. mostly just cuz the i-tunes ticketmaster presale was a must and the message from flea about not downloading the cd cuz it would break thier hearts from thier website made me kinda feel guilty. i respect the chili peppers too much, but they have made thier damned money, so they shouldnt be too concerned with it. flea said he was just concerned with people getting the leaked cd with bad sound quality and it ruining the experience, but eff that, i got mine downloaded and it sounds just as good as any cd i've ever bought in the store haha.

Yeah, I too wish there was a little less to digest. I usually love double albums, and I was really excited about this one, but there's nothing really separating the records. I like double albums where you listen to the discs at different times for different reasons. These two discs are stylistically continuous; it's just one loooong album. Again, I think it's good, I'm just less likely to throw on a record this long.

Just arrived this morning - didn't want to download it like a lot of people I knew, of whom i proceded to shout at (when it was leaked they got it, just something i'm against, only one of them has subsequently brought it too.)

I'm really enjoying it so far, had heard a few of the tracks, but it is really good, but mainly on disc 1 at the moment - love the way they've got some good funk back into the music (Charlie is one of my favourites so far.) Still can't decide if to see them in Summer, a ticket is waiting for me, but its £45 and i've already spent a lot on festivals v_v.
