Can anyone give me some advice to get inspired?

Write a song about one of your peeves.

Write a song about one of your peeves.

what does peeve mean?

Something you hate, like people/things/places that bother you. Or go emo and find inspiration in a girl out of your league.

I always go for a walk to inspire me. Fresh air, nature... does wonders for the brain.

Also, on a side note, expanding your vocabulary couldn't hurt.

Write about something really random.

Or go political.

Not political. Did you see my one post dude? The anti political one?

Bad advice...don't write about something you if you don't give two ****s about it. If you happen to care about politics, then go for it...but don't expect people to like it.

If you seriously know something about what you're talking about go political. But otherwise don't join the many who "like want to educate people with my music dudes" when they don't actually have a clue what the hell they're buggering on about.

Otherwise, I'm doing a sequence based on a story which is quite fun to do. Write or find a short story and write a few songs about it. Or else just write about anything/one you either really like or hate.

Poetry always inspires me. I don't write lyrics, admittedly; however, I do write poems and stories (short stories, mostly, as I don't finish anything long).

Personally, reading "The Divine Comedy" was enlightening. The Iliad was sorta didactic, I found, but that isn't a bad thing. It was only so because I've been learning Ancient History for a long time and the story was sorta like one of those "reteaching" worksheets that they give out in school. Well, that's my advice. If not poetry, just something that you wouldn't normally read. I hated poetry before, so I decided to read some. Now I love it ^_^;

Regardless and in short, read something that you wouldn't read under normal circumstances.

This goes into Tips & Questions. On a side note, I've recently been getting an idea, going to dictionary.com and using the thesaurus to find cool words that help to depict the idea. It sounds lame, but it opens your vocab and can make for very effective metaphors.

turn the faucet in your bathroom on just a littlt bit so it dripps everynow and then. then sit on the toilet for a while the water might help you find a beat.

Go to the beach, even go visit your parents/grandparents/family. Write about something you love. When I lose inspiration I try to write in different styles, like subliminal messages and stuff. Eg:

Dont elook back when its all done

Over the moon and across the sun

People everywhere think your fun

Even Larry called you a chum.

;)

I once tried stuff like that and it was funny!

I would go for a bike ride, or listen to my favourite songs.

The truest thing that really helps your song writing is by going out and experiencing life and living it to the fullest.

Well said blazin drummer. Personal experience is golden in song writing it's what gives a song the "egde" Something else that's coo to try is this;

Think of people you've known..friends, acquaintances, and write a song about a story they told you. Only do it from someone elses prospective who was there. Or write about love/hate/death/sex/drugs/heaven/hell/mentally handicap busses that cut you of on the freeway while your trying to eat an italian beef sandwich from the gas station that tastes like the rubber glove of a nurse who just finished a prostate exam on a 41 year old hairy german who works construction and has an over active mucus gland in his nostril. Or you know, whatever tickles your fancy.

Just write about something you feel strongly about emotionally, not necessarily in an emo sense, but something you need to express. That's about all I can think of. :/

Ishy...whats up thanks for the crit but this isn't really a song so...i guess i'll tell you how i thought up the last one...well...i was in the shower...all my best songs come to me there...i find the steam clears my head...and my nose...hmmm...well all i can say is insperation can come from anything anywhere...you don't even have to be looking for it...one day you cold be talking to your friend and they could say the most profound thing you have ever heard...write it down and work with it...you could be lying in bed listening to the rain...and bam...a beautiful song compairing rain, time, and love... or you could pull something compleatly original from it...the latter is probably better...anytime anywhere...you don't have to look for it...it'll come to you...and once you are a professional songwriter...the women will too...he, he, that rhymes...
