Can people recommend me bands that were seen as the pioneers of certain movements.

I really don't care about genre, I want to get into some more inspiring new music. They should be very unique bands for their time, bands that stood out for their time. Any genre at all, any style, just some bands seen as the pioneers.

Einsturzende Neubauten
Wire

Neubauten for industrial (to start with - they moved into all kinds of unclassifiable stuff throughout their time), and Wire for post-punk; for a start check out Pink Flag by the latter.

Jane's Addiction, I have Rituola and wasn't very impressed on the whole. Some songs that really annoyed me on there. Any other albums worth checking out. I have Strays too.

I have Pink Flag, i'll check out Einsturzende Neubauten now. Cheers again.

Ritual is the best one IMO, so I'm surprised. I think Nothing's Shocking is more widely regarded as the best one, and it's certainly really damn good. I'm surprised you like Incubus and you don't like JA. There would be no Incubus without them.

The Velvet Underground and Television for Post-punk?

I was gonna say that too, but then I would just love it if there was a genre called Posty-Punky

I'm not a fan of Candlemass but I already like the others. Thanks tho.

Well alotta the big pioneers were mentioned already but you might wanna check out Throbbing Gristle, Arnold Schoenberg, Xiu Xiu, Fugazi, or Yes. Throbbing Gristle pioneered the use of sampling and I think they recorded on of the first new wave songs, Arnold Schoenberg was one of the pioneers of atonal music composition, Fugazi spearheaded that whole washington punk sound I believe, Yes was one of the major prog-rock bands of the 70s, and I just haven't heard another band that sounds like Xiu Xiu yet.
