Well, I was in my local drum-related shop a few days ago, browsing through cymbals and electric kits. Eventually, I got to the sticks section, and noticed a pair of Vic Firth Steve Gadd sigs. lying there. Having remembered the numerous recommendations from forum members, I decided to buy a pair. Wow. For the first time in the 3 or so years I've been playing, I've found sticks which seem as though they were tailor made for me. They feel light and at the same time solid, and are extremely well balanced. And they're black. But best of all, they have the Gadd-meister's signature on them, and he just happens to be my favourite drummer. Pretty pointless thread so far, I know, but I just wanted to thank everyone who's ever recommended these sticks. And now, go do yourself a favour and buy a pair.

Now I want a pair, I've been playing with Travis Barker sticks but may pick up a pair of the Gadd ones. On the subject of drum sticks has anyone tried the John Dolmayan sticks? I don't listen to much SOAD but since the other members of our band (one in particular) love them to death I thought I might get a pair to shut em up.

I have Steve gadd sigs and the really are the best sticks I've ever used, I cant find any with nylon tips though which annoys the hell outta me. I use those and some el palo sticks i love em both

Barker sticks? Please burn them :( They leave nasty white marks everywhere

Indeed they do, might aswell go the Gadd's next time I keep hearing nothing but good (except for the fact they leave black marks on your cymbals).

Forgive my laziness here, (maybe it's better for me to ask, because then others can see an answer too if they wondered) What kind of tips do the steve gadd sticks have, and what size are they closest to?

They come in both Wood and Nylon tips and both have the barrel shape, they are the same Dia. as the 85A's and slightly shorter

the steve gadd sticks are really good, but make sure you try them out on a drum or something, i have medium sized hands and they feel a little too small imo. I didn't have blackmarks on my cymbals or anything, but they do break kind of easily so make sure you don't let some jackass thrash away with them. The tips make a really cool sound on the snare drum
