After my birthday I will have about £700-£750 to spend on a new drum kit.

Do I...(a) Buy a decent drum kit and buy loads of cymbals and accessories
(b) Buy an excellent drum kit which costs £750 and have no money to buy accessories
(c) Buy a very good drum kit with a small amount of money to replace cymbals, heads, etc. ?

And also, I live in the UK and I would buy all of the drums sh!t from Musicians Friend, however, they do not ship to the UK. My dad said " UPS will collect it in US and then ship to the UK ", he also added " It wll cost alot ". So any deas on how much this will cost or any alternative ways ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks alot guys

Just save up some more money and buy an excellent drum kit and excellent cymbals all at the same time. If you buy a very good or decent drum kit then you might want to upgrade again later on to an excellent kit. This way you save money by skipping those steps.

What would be excellent cymbals? I was gonna get a Tama Superstar EFX with Zldjian A Customs. What is the Superstar like?
Oh, is there any Tama kits that come in Sparkly White, kinda like Lars Ulrichs?

By saying excellent cymbals I mean pro cymbals. A customs are pro cymbals. Why do you have to get a kit that looks like Lars kit?

Get a second hand Premier kit from eBay, some nice Istanbul Agop cymbals from http://www.drumshop.co.uk , and buy my 12" Jezen snare (Birch + Beech) for your aux snare.

That's a killer kit straight away.

Whats a good Premier mate? Theres plenty around on eBay and on Drum Shop theres a used Cabria

Jezen

No, not Cabria or Olympic or anything like that. Go with some of the vintage Premier lines, or perhaps APK or XPK.

If you wanna get some really good drums, try and find some Premier Signias.

..Oh, and buy my 12" Jezen snare drum too. It's Birch with Beech re-rings. :)

Jezen

I'll sell it for 100, or perhaps 80. Not that I get any profit or anything.

Here's a couple of pics. Don't see the colour too good though.

I think this shot complements the finish a little better.

Whats the pric difference between the artist and £700? Ill probably get at least another £160 - £320

Oh with 700 you could get an Artists, but I was under the impression that you wanted cymbals.

Wow British Boy, did you make that yourself? Does it sound good?

I would choose option (a), you could probably find a good kit for about £500 couldn't you? then you would have enough left over for decent cymbals and hardware. your choice, see what deals you can find

Ive kinda decided that im gonna get a PDP kit. The LX shell pack and then with the £100 or so ill buy either a meinl cymbal pack with hats, crash and ride or just hats and a crash (maybe a ride) and then get some more cymbals for xmas.

But I dont know what colour I would go for either

Natural - You can hav a 20" bass drum instad of the default 22"
or
Cheery-Black Fade - I will post pics up shortly but i cant right now.

What do you think of my plan guys?

I prefer the first one. Natural looks good on some kits, this one being one of them.
