Ok guys. I was able to borrow my parents digital cam today to take some pics of my snare wires for another thread and I figured I might as well take pictures of the whole kit. It is a beginner's kit but it is good for now till I upgrade. It was $300 off Music123 in September 2004. I spent most of the year replacing the crappy original hardware. I think I did a good job on that. :thumb:

Sorry about some of the pics being kinda blurry. This cam is like 3-4 years old or something.

This is a general overview of my kit. I used the flash on this one because it make the kit look nice and shiny.

My Chad Smith Signature snare. I love this snare.

I know its kinda late to be posting Christmas presents but this is what I got for Christmas. AAX Stage Hats. These are awesome.

Got this ride for my birthday. AAX Stage ride. My favorite cymbal out of the whole kit.

These are the crappy cymbals I upgraded from. XS20 ride, hats, and crash/ride. If anyone is interested, these are for sale.

A different angle of my kit to get a better view of the tom angles and general layout.

Birds eye view. Took me like 15 tries to get this pic close to the way I want it. The cam was against the ceiling so this is the best that I could do.

Drivers seat right side. For some reason this shot took forever to get right.

Replace throne with Roc N Soc Nitro throne
Replace both XS20 crashes with AA Mediums
Possibly add on an AAX China
Hopefully by the end of the year upgrade to pro shells.

Any ideas what I should add on or how I can improve my kit are welcome. I am satisfied with the tom angles so I probably won't be changing them. They aren't extreme anyways. Even though it is a beginners kit please don't flame me to death lol.

Happy New Year D&P!!

Nice set, and yes, when you get the money, definetly get a Roc n Soc nitro throne. You'll love it.

Peace.

yeah pretty impressive tom angles, seeing as how those mounts suck for getting good tom angles! (reason why I hate Pearl)

May I start with... Nice kit

You asked for suggestions:

lower your crashs unless you are 10 foot tall :)

maybe pick up a 17" wuhan china and a 12" splash

new throne

new pedals

sell your xs20 you could pick up a fair bit for them...

Nice kit and I love those angels the overhead looks sweet

If I lower that 16" on the right then it will be too close to the that tom it overhangs. My arms aren't really long and if the 16" was any farther it would be hard to get at without leaning forward some. I wanted both crashes to be on the same level so when I crash them at the same time it wouldn't feel awkward, one being lower than the other. I'll try to experiment some more though.

new pedals

Whats wrong with the Iron Cobra power glide and hi hat stand?

Thanks for your suggestions though. :thumb:

that ride looks a bit high though

I ride it with the shoulder pretty often for a good washy sound. I hate riding crashes for that.

If I were you I would work on a better set before you get a professional quality throne.

I agree. A throne should be the icing on the cake :thumb: Nice Kit, btw.

dude, the xs20 hats aren't too bad for their price! in my opinion, anyway.. a bit loud and trashy when wide open (which might be good for some heavier music!), but I really like my xs20 hats. sure, I wish I had some new beats or something similar, but for the price I paid I couldn't be much happier.

I'd totally recommend them if you can't afford top of the line hats.

EDIT: oh, and I forgot to mention.. I just tried out a AAX ride in the store the other day and actually really liked the sound of it. still prefer the HH raw bell dry ride, but it was good stuff nonetheless. :)

The only bad thing about the AAX stage ride is that it hardly has any bell. Other than that it is great. :thumb:
