I recently stumbled upon this band when I was listening to a friends ipod. They are incredibly good; don't let the name get in the way of listening to them. I got Source Tags and Codes for Christmas, and it hasnt left my cd player yet. I just heard the songs Worlds Apart and Richter Scale Madness for the first time, and they are also amazing. I will definatley be purchasing more from this band soon.
Discuss if you like this band, or hate them, or just think their name is weird.

This band is awesome. Source Tags and Codes is one of the greatest albums ever made; it just works so well as a whole. "Another Morning Stoner" and the title track are two of my favorite songs as well. This band really knows what it's doing, even if it has a name that doesn't fit its style of music at all.

Everytime I listen to it, a new song jumps out at me. Right now, the song "Monsoon" seems really incredible, and I've had it on repeat for a little while now.
I've only heard "After The Laughter".

Source Tags & Codes is a great album. It is very difficult to pull a song as the best since they are all amazing.

I was reluctant to get into the band at first because when I heard the name I thought "oh sweet another ****ty scene-**** band"...all I have to say now is "holy **** was I wrong". I bought Source Codes & Tags and that is one mother of an album... And by mother I mean very very good.

yeah they're pretty amazing. I'm so lucky too. My brother-in-law used to have a band in england and he played a couple of shows with trail of dead before they got very popular. So when he married my sister he moved over here to austin, texas where trail of dead lives and he's best friends with jason so I have had the privelage of hanging out with him and the rest of the band. :)

The only stuff I've heard has been from Worlds Apart. The Rest Will Follow, the single, is pretty good, but I absolutely love the song Will You Smile For Me Again. It's got a great sort of confident energy to it.

I like them.
Intelligence is a good song, because it's so different to every other of their songs. It's got a whole synthy thing happening.
I have yet to check out the self titled album and Madonna, but I have ST&C, Worlds Apart, and the Elenas Tomb EP.

They supported Audioslave when i saw them, to be honest they were appalling, i daresay they're better recorded but they were absolutely atrocious live...

Yeah, incredible band. "How Near How Far" is the song that did it for me. It's still one of my favorite songs to this day.

What's so hard to understand? It's a rock band with great production and soaring, wall-of-sound melodies that create a pleasing listening experience to many people's ears. Just because you don't like a band is no reason to feign ignorance of their appeal to others. Even I can understand why some people might be so inclined to like Coldplay, although I respectfully disagree with them.

I absolutely love this band, i owe all their albums apart from the self-titled album. Source Tags & Codes is the album that did it for me, i absolutely love it especially "another morning stoner" One of their songs that i have been listening to a lot lately is "Mistakes and Regrets" Great song. I hate people who judge this band by "worlds apart" its a totally different album compared to the rest. If you want to start liking this band then get "source tags and codes"

it's hard to describe them as anything other than a rock band. all they do is rock. a lot of their songs have that driving beat, night time kind of feeling. there's nothing extremely special about them except their ability to create a lot of enjoyment for people. for example, why the hell do I like them? I don't really know, the music just sort of creates that feeling, so I don't worry about it.

I looove Trail of Dead. Their best cd is Source Tags and Codes (my favorite is Relative Ways). They're ****ing amazing live; they have so much energy. I don't care too much for Worlds Apart. They have some good songs on that cd, but it's not as good as Source Tags.

worlds apart was a big pile of dog turd, but the rest of their stuff is awesome.
source tags and codes is one of the best starting albums i own, though my version of 'source tags..' has a different intro to everyone else's:confused:

I think one of the non-U.S. versions has two extra songs. So consider yourself lucky if you have that, because I haven't heard those songs.

i don't have that, but it seems that 2 of my friends do have the extra songs..cause the intro is longer on theirs..

Trail of Dead is one of my fav bands. I love Source Tags and Codes...I don't know what it is about that album, but it just has this thing, kinda like Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot that makes you keep coming back for more. Worlds Apart is pretty weak compared to Source Tags, but Madonna is damn good. I love Mistakes and Regrets, A perfect Teenhood, How Near How Far, Days of Being Wild, Source Tags and Codes(the song), All Saints Day, Relative Ways, Heart in the matter of Hands, and Clair De Lune. Great band.

They do come off at times as slightly pretentious, but the music is very good. And the production is very unusual.
I didn't like Worlds Apart either except for the intro and first real song (which name escapes me).
