I've been listening to the album On Fire by Galaxie 500, and i can't understand how they don't get more love. It's such a pleasant album to listen to and it has a really warm feel to it, and i'm addicted. The song Snowstorm is so damn good, one of the best i've heard in a long time. They're a dreamy, shoegaze type band and i think alot of people here would like them.

So, any other Galaxie 500 fans?

I also have On Fire, I heard it was supposed to be a classic, perfect album. It's decent but I don't really think it warrants the critical adulation it gets. Perhaps it will grow on me, but for now it's just a decent record.

I really like On Fire. I guess it could be somewhat of a grower, but by about the second or third listen I started to dig it. The falsetto vocals might bother some people.

I think the vocals go perfectly with the music, but oh well. I'm glad you like the album, though. I really can't stop listening to it, and i'll need to check out their others.

I still prefer their debut Today...

to be honest i had big expectations for this band simply by word of mouth. they were meant to be one of the 'defining bands of the 90s' or something. i listened to the album 'on fire' and they were pretty crap. i kept listeneing hoping for it all just to click into place somehow but it never did.

it's alright, but i really didn't understand why they gain such high plaudits
