Decent band, i can still see the appeal of records like Hello Rockview and Losing Streak, not at all on Borders and Boundaries and Anthem.

Yeah, they kinda got better with B is For B-Sides, but not by much. I still like Anthem and B&B no matter how poppy it is.

Yep, seen them twice, once at a festival (which was amazing - they played mid-afternoon when it was really sunny and by the end there was steam coming from the pit) and once at the Octagon in Sheffield. The latter was particularly memorable because the band went to hang out in the same club that I went to later on. I said a quick hi to Chris, had a brief chat with Roger, and a more drawn-out discussion with Buddy about the relative merits of weed smoking and cigarette smoking. Then he put his pint glass in a bin and drunkenly staggered off to find the tour bus.

Fun times.

Personally, I haven't heard B is for B-Sides, but I don't think Anthem is that bad. Although it does move away from their trademark sound quite a lot (closer to standard pop-punk, apart from Science Of Selling Yourself Short, probably my favourite song on the album) which I think is what weakens it. So I say check it out, especially SOSYS, but don't expect another Hello Rockview.

IMO, B is for B-Sides is real boring. Except for a few songs, its just really "meh". It was a waste of 10 bucks for me. If you really want it, download it and don't buy it.

It's not a bad song. Reminds me a little of Sum41 or Offspring or Ataris or a lot of other pop punk bands.

Why can't they just get rid of the brass section altogther, that way people will stop being misled into thinking they play ska.

When they used to play ska they were so much better. They stood out as a band instead of becoming another medicore pop band.

That gave me the impression of being a little teen pop hit, that could be enjoybaly occasionally, but they capable of far better.

Schqwnbean (Ross amirite), What kinda songs did they play last night?

Ross
04-01-2006, 09:25 AM
Ross indeed.

They started with Gainsville Rock City and moved through a fair few of the old classics (Metalheads included) very early on.

Then they agreed that if we went mental to this one new song (which was actually a really good song, from their upcoming album and not on MySpace) they'd just play old stuff all evening.

Which we did, and they did :)

Every classic old track was in there, plus a few nice surprises (Plastic Cup Politics!) and they put on a damn good show.

Boys Night Out were sposed to be supporting with Bullets To Broadway, but BNO didn't show up.

Yeah, Bullets to Broadway were OK. 3 of the band (the girl bassist included) are ex-Teen Idols members. Teen Idols were terrible when I saw them last, its good to see that they've moved on and formed a much better band :)

*sighs in relief for not seeing Boys Night Out*
