Left Hand Rhythm

I started playing keyboard/piano on the 25th. I'm picking it up pretty well since I already play the guitar. I'm just wondering what songs or exercises I should practice in order to build up my skill in both hands playing different things. Because I can lead pretty well with either but doing rhythm and lead just confuses me.

I would say that you should work on using chords with left hand and take the same chord and pick out single notes and try to keep something going.

Ex: C chord with left hand and then C, E, G with right hand in different patterns.

You may want to get a metronome too so that you can try to keep up to speed, etc...

Also, if you know how to read sheet music, try writing something out and then try to play what you wrote. It works for me and helps both the songwriting part along with the playing/skill part. Doesnt have to be anyting fancy but yea.

Thanks. I figured something that would really help me when perfected. I learned the bass and melody of the Super Mario bros theme and I'm gonna try to play them at the same time. I don't have any problem writing my own music. I've written many instrumentals for a four piece rock band set-up.
