cod2 problem

good day all. getting a bit of money for christmas, i went shopping and found call of duty 2 for pc in the sale. after bringing it home and installing it, i had a play around and tweaked it bit managing to get it running at a high res with all the nice lighting etc. so im on to to one of the egypt missions and all of a sudden after the loading screen my machine restarts.same problem again and again. anyone else experiencing difficulty with this game? crashes etc. there appears to be a patch on the official website but im not sure what its for. apologies if this has all been discussed before but i was enjoying this game up until now

I haven't got there myself, but did buy the game the other day. I would definitely try downloading the patch and see if that makes any difference.

the patch is 'Call of Duty 2 Intel Dual-Core Hyper-Thread Optimization Patch'. whatever that is. anyone explain ?

to find out if you have a processor with the technology do the following

Start >> run >> type 'dxdiag' >> in the system information section, if it says you have 2 CPUs, get that patch you found

if you only have 1 CPU, it probably wont help you, but i expect there would be no harm trying anyway.

i do have that kind of processor, i want to try the patch lol
