Honestly, the reason I think he's doing so good is because he has superb receivers and a solid running game. Sure he has good accuracy, but it doesn't seem like he knows the game as well as other qb's
Give him some time and I'm sure he'll be good (he already is)

That's a nice chunk of dollars.

I wouldn't say he is worth that quite yet. But good on his agent for getting that kind of a deal.
Although they'll probably resign him before the final two or three years of his contract.

That's just too much. That's almost 20 million a year. That's a lot.

I think that's too much now, but I have a feeling he'll keep improving.
Cincinnati had to keep him, so I guess they didn't have much of a choice.

I don't think i've heard of a player getting such a large contract in the NFL. With salary cap and all, I think they will be regretting this decision. Nobody is worth that much on a football team. Maybe basketball, where there are fewer players and one guy can make a difference, but honestly, the Bengals started climbing the hill when Kitna was there qb.

See, the Bengals are still the horrible, crappy Bengals we always knew. They never changed.
Seriously, they screwed themselves over. This might turn out to be worse than letting go Corey Dillon. Next thing you know, he'll start performing badly, maybe a season or two in a row. Then Chad Johnson will want a new contract... it's going to get bad.

Have you not watched football the last two years?

Yup, Corey Dillon turned out to be a crushing loss for them...between him and Takeo Spikes, they had a core of franchise players who led them to the playoffs year after year. Then they got rid of them both and it was all downhill from there.
I think this is a good move for the Bengals. Franchise quarterbacks are hard to come by; you have Manning, Brady, Palmer, McNabb...maybe Ben Roethlisberger? And with the growth of gimmicky spread offenses in college, the pool of NFL-ready quarterbacks is growing thinner and thinner still.

In baseball A-Rod gets paid around 25 milliong. And Shaq the most dominant player, maybe ever, gets around 20. And then you look at Palmer.

Palmer's deal has to be front-loaded or back-loaded, and a lot of that money is probably incentives and bonuses.
edit:
Under the reworked deal, Palmer will get a $15 million bonus -- paid on Feb. 16 -- and a base salary of $6.75 million next season. The Bengals owe him a $9 million option by Jan. 1, 2007 -- they'll have the option of letting the rest of the deal take effect or nullifying it at that time, but have to pay the same amount either way.
His base salaries will increase during the deal, topping out at $14 million in 2014. He'll also get $1 million roster bonuses for each of his last three seasons, bringing the total amount of the reworked, nine-year deal to $118.75 million.
See?

That's a lot of money but I'm a big Carson Palmer fan. He may not be the most talented QB, but he's got a good, strong and accurate arm, and great instincts. He's a good athlete and has shown signs of leadership. I agree with Illmatic that he could become a franchise-type QB. They may have overpaid, but it was absolutely essential that they get him back.

Well baseball is just retarded. It's not uncommon to see utility infielders making multi millions. I mean, wtf. Shaq, however, might deserve it, considering he can make any team into a winner, that is if they already have some decent talent like L.A. and Miami, not like Orlando.

With all that money he can hire a dance instructer so he can keep up with Chad's TD dances.

Well, Orlando would have Francis and Shaq which is an alright duo.

Poor guy...3rd year QB and already one of the best in the league, takes the worst franchise in the NFL into their first playoff appearance in 15 years...15 long years and in a split second the playoffs are over for Cinci
Oh...and Steelers fans, it's not hard to beat Jon Kitna
