Your computer isn't good enough to run it.
I have a 3.0 ghz and it has to be on low for the game to run smoothly...

I would think so, it might barely work. They put so much ****ing detail into the game and they didn't realize that about 0.005% of computer users own a computer with 6.0 ghz.

The demo works fine, it's just the actual game takes soooo much freakin power to play on medium.

F.E.A.R,HL2,Quake4,BlackandWhite2,CoD2 all work smoothly on mine..
I put the graphics on a high level and it works better..its weird,on CoD2 i thought on a lower spec it would run better but it wasnt until I put it past 800x600 that it looked amazing.
Sorry im digressing...I dont know man..games require a hell of a lot of power these days. Best waiting until you eithr get new graphics card.($200-400).or just leave it and feel sad

go on your graphics card website and download the latest drivers for it, also run windows update and go on your motherboard website to make sure you're running the newsest bios.

Rise of Nations > Age of Empires
Don't make me laugh. It has nothing on Age of Empires III.
However, a RoN II would indeed > AoE III.

i bought AOE III a few days ago and i have an athlon 64 3500+, 1gig ram, geforce 6800gt and it runs just fine with everything maxed out. but ill admit, it does get alittle choppy when theirs 100+ objects moving on the screen. threadstarter, i recommend taking the game back and exchanging it for a new copy! maybe you got a bad copy. also, update all your drivers, AOE III should run on your system.
